"Absolutely not!" said Allura.

"Please, just for the day, and if he tries anything, we can put him right back!" Lance begged.

"Do you have any idea how dangerous the Galra are?" Allura asked.

"Yes, I do," Lance replied firmly. "You're talking to the guy who almost got killed by Sendak, remember? I'm telling you, he's nothing like them!"

Allura gave him a skeptical look, and Lance in turn gave her puppy dog eyes. Allura tried to stand her ground, but eventually caved with a sigh. "You really believe in him, don't you?" she said.

"I do," Lance replied. "Besides, we can't keep him in there forever, can we?"

"Fine," Allura said at last. "On one condition." She put a hand on Lance's shoulder and glared into his eyes. "You must be with him at all times. Do not let him out of your sight. If he does anything even slightly suspicious, you must put him back in his cell and report the incident to me. Understood?"

Lance tensed up under Allura's glare. He lowered his head with a sigh. "Yes, princess," he answered.

Keith stared at the ceiling of his cell, thinking about everything and nothing at the same time, letting thoughts pop into his mind and then drift away again. He heard a familiar tap on the window, and looked up to see Lance wearing the biggest grin Keith had ever seen. He unlocked the sliding door and rushed in.

"Keith!" Lance shouted with delight. "You're not staying in the brig anymore!" He grabbed Keith's hand and pulled him up to his feet, causing Keith to wince with pain. "Oh, sorry..."

"It's fine," Keith replied. "So, are you saying I'm free now?"

"Well," Lance looked to the side and ran a hand through his hair. "Kinda. You can walk around the castle and stuff, but you gotta stick with me. I'm supposed to... keep tabs on you or something."

"Oh..." Keith said with disappointment.

"Hey, just think of me as... your body guard!" Lance said as he put a hand on Keith's shoulder.

Keith smiled a little. "Well, at least I can get out of this tiny room. I was starting to get claustrophobic."

Lance chuckled a little, and the two left the brig side by side.
