A.N: Shit! This arc is lasting longer than I planned! I'm pretty sure this will be the last one, though.

Lol I'm writing fan fiction in class. Thug life!

Keith and Lance watched the large monitor in the security room, searching for any sign of life. Their plan was to see if they could find Commander Tian on the security footage. It wasn't much of a plan, but it was the best chance they had.

"See anything yet?" Lance asked with boredom.

"No. You?" Keith replied, equally bored.

"Nope."

They sat in silence for a moment, trying to ignore the faint smell of the dead security guard, who they had dragged outside the room.

"Hey, Keith?" Asked Lance.

"What's up?"

"When you said... That if you couldn't be a good Blade, then you didn't deserve to be happy... Do you really think that?"

Keith sighed. "It's not that I think that; logically, I know it's bullshit, but that's how I've been feeling for a while. I thought that I'd have to earn the right to be happy. To fight for it. And that the only reason I wasn't happy was because I wasn't good enough yet. But..." He turned to look at Lance. "Seeing you, and hearing what you said, it gave me hope. I feel more alive now than I've felt in phoebs."

Lance smiled and brushed a hand through Keith's hair. "I missed you, too."

Suddenly, Keith's helmet beeped.

"Keith!" Krolia cried through the speaker. "You need to get out of there. Commander Tian escaped a varga ago, and the state of the facility has been reported to the Galra Empire. It's been evacuated, and they're sending a ship to destroy the facility and eliminate the malfunctioning robots. Get out of there, now!"

The two looked at each other in shock for a second. Keith shook his head, snapping out of the initial shock.

"What are we waiting for?! My cruiser is parked in the back, we can get there through the vents!"

"There's no time!" Krolia said. "You have ten doboshes, tops. Just run, and don't let anything stop you!"  With that, the two boys made quick work of the barricade and sprinted down the hall side by side. Lance shot the sentries coming from behind, while Keith slashed through all the ones ahead. The more they killed, though, the more came.

"We're not going to make it, there's too many!" Lance cried.

"The Galra ship will arrive in three minutes," Krolia reported.

"We can do this, just keep running!" Keith said. Despite the encouraging words, there was still fear in his tone.

As they turned a corner, they found five sentries patrolling together. The duo readied their weapons and charged at them without hesitation. Keith made quick work of three of them with graceful swordsmanship.

"Nice one, Keith!" Lance said. He fired at the other two, hitting one and missing the other. The second sentry shot at Lance and hit him in the side of his torso. He screamed and collapsed as the ray seared into his flesh.

"LANCE!" Keith screamed. He let out a battle cry and decapitated the sentry, killing it immediately. Lance lay on the ground groaning in pain, and Keith rushed to his side.

"Can you get up?" Keith asked fearfully.

"I... think so..." Lance groaned. He tried to push himself up, only to have a burst of pain burn through him. He screamed again and fell back down. Keith looked around.

"Do you think you could still shoot?" he asked. Lance nodded weakly. "Good," he said. With that, he scooped up Lance and cradled him in his arms. "You shoot, I run."

"Right," Lance said, trying to hide how much pain he was in.

Keith felt a burst of adrenaline run through him, and he bolted for the cargo room. The sentries seemed to be dwindling in numbers now, and Lance shot them down on sight. Keith kept up a steady pace, all the while saying quiet words of encouragement to Lance.

"You're going great, we're almost there," he said softly.

After what seemed like an eternity of running and fighting, they made it to the docking room.

"The ship has arrived," Krolia said with worry.

They put on their helmets.

"Torpedo is charging," Krolia updated.

Keith punched the button to the exit. The door behind them sealed shut and the air was drained from the room. Keith got a running start before activating the rockets in his boots and flying out of the facility. They got behind an asteroid and braced themselves. Within ticks, they felt a huge shock wave, and debris started flying past them, their only protection being the asteroid. After a dobosh, things calmed down and they were able to get to the cruiser without being seen.

Keith stumbled into the cruiser, set Lance down in the passenger seat, and collapsed into the pilot's seat. The two took off their helmets and sat for a moment, taking heavy, shaking breaths. Lance laughed a little.

"We made it...!" He said between deep breaths. He laughed a bit louder, and Keith joined in. Lance gave a shout and raised his fists up in victory, but then winced in pain.

"Shit!" Keith suddenly remembered that Lance still had a hole in his abdomen. He jumped up and grabbed a first-aid kit and got to work. "Take your shirt off," he ordered.

"Wow, I didn't think you were so forward!" Lance joked. Keith rolled his eyes as Lance took his shirt off. Keith took a cotton ball and saturated it in a disinfectant. Lance cringed slightly upon contact, but managed to hold still enough for Keith to continue. Keith took out a roll of gauze and some cotton pads, covered the wound with the pads, and carefully wrapped the gauze tightly around Lance's torso. Once satisfied, he pinned the gauze in place and took out a bottle of pills.

"Take one of these, it'll help with the pain." He handed the pill bottle to Lance.

"Oh thank God," Lance muttered as he eagerly took one. The medicine kicked in quickly, and he found himself relaxing within ticks.

"Don't fall asleep!" Keith said with worry.

"I'm not, I'm not," Lance reassured him. Keith sighed, reached for Lance's hand, and intertwined his fingers with Lance's.

"Sorry, I just- I don't want to lose you. I just got you back, and..." Keith sighed again. Lance gave Keith's hand an affectionate squeeze.

"I get it. If we switched places, I'd probably say the same thing." Lance gave Keith an understanding smile.

Keith nodded and smiled back. "Hey, how long did it take you to get here?" he asked.

"About two varga." Lance replied.

"Right. My base is closer, we can stop there and get you some proper medical attention." With that he put in the coordinates of his base and set the cruiser to autopilot.

The two sat in companionable silence for a moment, just enjoying each other's presence. Soon, though, a thought came to Lance that made him a bit worried.

"Shouldn't we go back and get Blue?" he asked.

"What do you mean? She's been following us this whole time." Keith brought up the rearview camera to reveal that Blue was in fact following them. Lance laughed a little and shook his head. They were then quiet for a few more doboshes, but it wasn't an awkward silence. The atmosphere was calm, and the two felt happy to be together.

"Hey, Keith?" Lance said.

"Yeah?"

"I love you."

Keith was surprised. He felt the same way, but he didn't expect Lance to say that so suddenly. He decided to say the only words that came to mind; "I love you, too."
