"You're a warlock?"

----

Ten smiled at him.

"Yeah, I am. Well, I think since your eyes were about to become an icy blue your main power is water and everything related?"

"You're right there. What's your main power?"

Ten didn't reply, but just let his own eyes change color instead. They became a bright purple for a moment.

"You're a willpower warlock?!" Johnny asked in disbelief. Sure, water warlocks were very rare since most of them controlled the fire, but there was one kind that appeared even less.

Willpower warlocks.

"Don't look at me like I'm some sort of endangered species," Ten chuckled. "You're pretty rare yourself."

Johnny was too shocked to reply. He hadn't met another warlock in his whole life before except for his grandmother. all the knowledge he had came from books she had gifted him when he had presented at age 5. His parents weren't warlocks, so they couldn't teach him a lot, and he had to study all by himself after his grandmother's passing when he was 11.

"I haven't met any warlock before except for my grandma. She was an air warlock," was all he could say.

"Oh, I see. Your parents aren't warlocks. Well, mine are, they're both fire warlocks like basically everyone in the family, so when I presented, they were too shocked to do anything. I went to several people to check if I really was a willpower warlock, and when my family finally believed it, they just went crazy. I was treated like some special person and as if I could break if they touched me. So I'm begging you to treat me like a normal person, Johnny. Can you do that for me?"

"I will, I promise."

"Thank you."

After a few minutes of silence in which the guys thought about what they had just gotten to know, they heard something outside. It was a loud banging sound, and that could usually mean nothing good. They looked at each other and nodded, knowing what they had to do.

Letting their powers come out and take control, they separated. Ten went to the front door while Johnny peeked out the kitchen window. Suddenly, Ten's voice was in Johnny's head, one of the smaller boy's powers.

"Someone's here. Looks like people who don't like warlocks and they're armed. I don't know how they found us, but please come here and help me."

Just as Johnny was about to reply out loud, Ten's voice sounded through his head again.

"I can hear your thoughts, no need to speak up."

Johnny had arrived at the front door quickly, and just as they were about to pull the door open, they heard the kitchen window shatter, followed by an immense heat.

"Upstairs!" Johnny whisper-yelled before grabbing Ten's hand and running up to the second floor.
