Y/n is a waterbender. She was born and raised in the southern water tribe and was friends with Sokka and Katara. A week before the fire nation came, your parents got into a fight and decided it would be best if they divorced. Your dad took you with him to go live in the swamp. One week later the fire nation came to look for the last waterbender (there were you and Katara but they thought there was only one). Both your mom and Katara's claimed to be the last one. Neither of them would confess which one was the waterbender and were both killed. Since news doesn't get to the swamp much, you and your dad had no idea about your mom. He already knew you were the avatar and had been hiding the war from you. He was supposed to wait until you were 16 to tell you that you were the avatar but something changed that.
