Chapter3: My Damon

Chapter3: My Damon

The next day Katherine gushed to the girls about Stefan asking her to the dance. They giggled with delight.

At lunch time Kat met her friends at their usual lunch table as she sat down her eyes scanned the room for Damon.

Luckily for her their school went up to 8th grade before going to the local High school. She had Damon with her for one more year until he left for High School. Even then all she had to do was wait one year before seeing him again. Finally after a couple of minutes she stopped looking when she couldn't find him.

Care notices her friend's eyes travel across the lunch room before giving up disappointed at not seeing Damon around. "If you were looking for Damon his with Rebekah out on the field its been going around that they're dating," Care informs her friend. Katherine pulls her face at this. " He doesn't like Rebekah I mean she's a nice girl and all... but he doesn't like her," she says a little uncertain now as she looks around once again just to make sure.

"Kat he kissed her that one time remember?" Bonnie adds in. "Yeah, but that doesn't mean he likes her ... Does it?" She asks her two friends. They both nod sharing glances at each other before directing their attention back to their puzzled friend. "Oh Kat you knew this was going to happen some day," Care tries to console her. Katherine stares at her friend frown shaking her head in confusion. "What do you mean Care?"

"Damon is older than us Kat he has different interests now which include girls," Care response slowly. "I don't get it Care ," she says a bit frightened now.

Care looks at Bonnie unsure of what to say. "His not really going to have time for 7th graders like us," Bonnie says gently. Kat shakes her head "No, we're best friend's Bon he wouldn't just leave like that," before the conversation can further the bell rings signaling start of the last school session.

As Katherine walks to class she sees Damon and Rebekah walking to class together. Was it true? Did he really forget about her? This filled her thoughts on the walk home remaining silent as Damon and Stefan talked. As she was about to open her front door. Damon called out to her "Kat do you wanna go to the park later?" She nods before asking "Stefan are you coming with?" He shakes his head "I was invited to Tyler's " she nods in understanding before going into her house.

She sat on her bed quietly doing her homework. After she was done she went downstairs to drink some juice then went over to the Salvatore's house. Damon greeted her with a smile as they made their way to the park. "Be home before it gets dark," Mrs Salvatore calls out to them.

The first thing Katherine runs to swings while Damon joins her later. What happen earlier that day pops into her mind as she bites her bottom lip staring at the grass below her feet.

"Damon do you like Rebekah?" Katherine slips out in a rush. He frowns at her question."So that's why you were quiet during our walk home?" He almost laughs."Was it that obvious something was bothering me?" She asks embarrassed. He smiles and nods.

"Why do you want to know Kat?" He stares at her willing her to tell him. She shrugs a bit before giving out a heavy sigh. "Well its been going around at school that your dating and I just wanted to know from you," he chuckles a little before answering. "No we're not dating I mean we kissed once but I don't like her like her," he says reassuringly to his younger counterpart. Kat visibly relaxes at this and he notices. "Would something change if I were dating Rebekah?" He asks.

"No... Well .. Yes ,Maybe?" Kat stutters thinking about it. Before drawing her conclusion. "Its just that your in 8th grade now and you might not want to hang out anymore because I'm too young or you have a girlfriend to make you forget about me," her eyes were cast down as she explained. Damon looked at her in shock . Before reassuring all her worries away. "Come on Kat you know, you and Stefan are my best friend's I would never forget about us not even some girl could make me forget. The three of us against the world remember?" Kat nodded smiling all her worries set aside.

She would still have Damon and Stefan close to her side for a very long time. Damon watches as she relaxes and cant help but smile at the thought that she was worried about losing him. He was hers even if she didn't know that .
