Uncovered (Naruto Highschool Fanfiction)

'...Just go already.'

Naruto's POV

"Alright class, today we will be starting a project." The other students in class continued to fool around and hardly anyone was paying attention. "This project has to be done with a partner!" everyone froze at the word partner before running across the room to pair off with their friends.

I sat still in my seat, getting pushed around by the people running and crowding. I'm going to end up being paired up with someone who won't do any work. And then they'll get mad at me when 'our' project gets an F.

"Naruto." Gaara came up to me.

"Hi. You want to be partners?"

"..."

"Uh, okay?"

He sat next at the desk to the right of me and looked towards the front.

Kakashi explained what the project was about and gave us time to work together and come up with some ideas.

The bell rang, "Lunch. Don't be late.

We went to the machines outside and sat on the bench to eat our lunch. Gaara and I have hung out this past week but we aren't exactly friends now, we always eat lunch together though.

I heard Gaara sigh through his nose.

I pulled my can of soda down from my lips,"What?"

"My sister always packs an excessive amount of food."

"Leftovers?"

"Yes."

"Can I have 'em?"

He handed his bento to me and I took it, plucking an omelet slice from its place and taking a bite out of it,"Mmmm. You're so lucky. Having a nice sister that can cook and makes you lunch."

"I do not know what your culture considers 'nice' exactly, but I do not consider being hit with a wooden spoon due to every fault nice."

I sputtered and struggled to contain a laugh. I finished off his bento and he rewrapped it in the usual yellow cloth.

We went back to class and worked on our project since lunch wasn't over yet. As were discussing a certain idea we heard one of the doors of another classroom slam open. The others in the room crowded to the door to see what happened. The person walked down the hall before slamming another door fully open.

I was curious about what was happening but Gaara just continued to talk about the project so I ignored it.

The talking died down and everyone walked away from the door. I looked past Gaara and saw Neji staring back at me.

"Namikaze." He walked to us and shoved Gaara out of the way, "Meet us out on the court yard."

"Why should I?"

"Why should you? Why should you?" he grabbed me by the collar and pulled me to his face, "Unless you want me to throw you out the window I suggest you get off your ass and start walking." He growled.

"...I don't want to." Neji smirked and threw a closed fist to my face. I ducked.

Our fight continued but with all the desks around it made it harder to move, resulting in me getting punched in the nose. I tackled Neji and he fell pulling a desk down with him. I pulled him up by his collar and slammed him down on the floor.

"That's enough!" Kakashi had ran into the room and pushed me off of Neji,"Both of you, Principle's office, now!"

We got scolded by Tsunade. The bell rang and she gave Neji three days of detention before letting him go back to class.
