Chapter Six- Does He Love You Like I Did?

Spencer and J.J. had broken up last night and it was late when J.J. got home. She told her mother about the events that had unfolded that night.

Sandy was sitting in the living room reading a book when Jennifer unlocked the front door of the house and stepped inside. The light from two lamps on the end table on the end of the couch lit the living room. Sandy looked up from her book expecting to see Jennifer and Spencer but she was surprise that it was only J.J.

"J.J.?" Sandy said setting her book down. "Where's Spencer?"

J.J. set her bag and purse down on the counter in the kitchen. "I don't know. He probably won't be home tonight."

Sandy's brows furrowed in concern. "What's going on?"

J.J. walked past the lamp in the living room and her mother could tell she had been crying. She sat down on the couch next to her mother. Sandy wrapped her arms around her daughter.

"The guy that abducted him, he abused a drug called Dilaudid" J.J. explained to her mother as she turned to her. "He's been taking it for the last three weeks."

"That's why he been behaving differently" Sandy realized. "It was because he was taking this drug?"

J.J. nodded, sniffling. "Yeah, he doesn't want me or the boys to be around him while he's going through this. He said he's moving out of the house."

"Oh, Honey" Sandy tried to comfort her daughter wrapping her arms tighter around her. "Talk to him. He'll get help when he realizes that he needs it."

J.J. sat up, her mother releasing her from her arms. "I have to call Courtney. She needs to know what is going on."

Sandy placed a hand on her daughter's. "In the morning. You need your rest. I'll stay here for the night if you want and then we can talk to the boys in the morning."

J.J. hugged her mom. "Thanks, Mom."

Sandy released her from the hug. "Get some sleep, okay?"

J.J. nodded and picked up her purse and bag off the counter. "Goodnight, Mom." She said before she disappeared into the hallway to her bedroom.

"Goodnight, Honey" Sandy replied and went back to her book.

When J.J. woke up the morning, she went out into the living room to find her mother folding the blankets she had used the night before.

Sandy, J.J., Henry, and Jonah were sitting down in the living room of their two bedroom house watching SpongeBob in the living room when there was a knock on the door.

J.J. knew that it was Spencer. He had called ahead to tell her that he was coming by to see the boys and talk to them about what was going on. He also needed some more of his stuff from the house.

Henry and Jonah jumped off the couch rushing to the door, excited to see their dad. J.J. had told them that Spencer was coming back to the house today.

"Dad!" Henry and Jonah both exclaimed in union.

Spencer smiled brightly wrapping the boys in a hug. "Hi, guys!" He released them both and looked up at J.J. He needed to talk to her about the arrangements for the boys.

"Boys" Sandy walked over and put her hand in Jonah's shoulder. "Why don't we play in your room, huh?"

"But Dad just got here" Henry defended.
