Chapter Three- All That You Rely On Will Leave You In The Morning

The next night, Samantha came over to Spencer and J.J.'s house.

Samantha and Connor talked and fought over the affair he had with another woman. Cameron saw it happen.

Connor finally broke down and admitted that it was all true and that it had been going on for months now.

Samantha told Spencer all of this through the phone call he had with her this morning.

Spencer poured coffee into a mug and passed it over to his sister who was sitting down at the kitchen table. He then placed his own mug in front of him at the table and sat down across from her.

"He's packing up some things from the house to go to the hotel tonight. We'll tell the kids when they get back tomorrow and then the next step is the divorce papers" Samantha announced. "All we have to do is sign them and we're both free."

"Wow" Spencer said, surprised. "That was fast."

She nodded. "I think we've been slowly falling out of love with each other for a long time. It's time to call it."

Spencer looked at Samantha with concern. "Do you want to stay the night?"

"No" Samantha insisted. "It's fine. I'm going to head home and then have the house to myself for the night. The kids are going to be surprised when they get home."

"They sure are" Spencer agreed.

"I just want to get this right for them" Samantha said softly.

"You will" Spencer reassured her.

An hour passed, J.J. read the boys a book before they went to bed. Samantha and Spencer talked to Courtney and filled her in on what was going on with Samantha and Connor.

Samantha looked at the clock; it was 10:45 p.m. "It's getting late, I should get home." She rose from her chair. "Goodnight Court, I want to say goodnight to the kids before I go."

"Okay, one second" Courtney replied back. She called out to Cameron, Natalia, and Victoria. Owen was already asleep as it was late.

"Hi, Mom" they all said one after the other.

"Hi, guys, listen I just wanted to say goodnight, okay? I love you" Samantha spoke.

"We love you too, Mom" Victoria spoke up.

"We love you" Natalia said.

"Love you" Cam repeated.

Samantha turned towards the door as Spencer stood up. "Let me walk you out." He turned back to Courtney and the kids on the phone. "I'll be right back, Court."

The siblings walked out to the porch and Spencer took Samantha's jacket off the hook as she put her shoes on. He gave her the jacket and her keys.

Spencer looked at her halfheartedly. "Are you sure you don't want to stay the night? It's no problem, really."

Samantha smiled at her little brother. She kissed his forehead. "Thank you for being there for me and everything you've done. You're a good brother, Spencer. I hope you get to have everything that makes you happy." She walked to the front door opening it.

"Goodnight, Sam. Love you" Spencer said.

"I love you, too" Samantha replied and closed the front door behind her. Spencer watched as she got into her car and back out of the driveway, disappearing into the night.
