"Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope."-Maya Angelou
"One of the best things about being the owner of your own company is that you can make up whatever rules you want." Jungkook's dad said as he started helping us pack for a picnic and loaded stuff in our car.
My dad was finishing up fixing a few things around the engine of the car as he slams the hood shut. He comes around to the trunk, wiping the grease that got on his hands with a rag. "Are you sure about this Jae?" He asks Jungkook's dad.
"Of course I am. I really want all of you guys to meet her. You're all my family and I want my family to be comfortable with the idea."
"Jae if you're happy, I'm happy. I don't think you have to do this especially when we have work–"
"Oh nonsense." He waves off "Of course I have to do this. Relax about work, you're the CEO, you don't need to be there everyday. Besides I don't think the boss will mind." He pauses for a moment before smiling brightly and pointing to himself. "Oh wait I'm the boss." Jungkook's dad laughs as mine rolls his eyes.
Huh I think I see where me and Jungkook get it from.
"Okay, fine I'll bite," my dad says with a look of defeat as Jungkook's dad slightly claps in victory. "But why couldn't we simply just have dinner together?"
"Because that's not fun." His dad pouts. He then shuts the trunk of the car down and turns to grab my dad by the shoulders. "You're my best friend aren't you Ki?" He asks.
My dad holds onto his arms that were still on his shoulders, trying to slightly take the pressure off. "What? Of course I am. I mean I practically named my daughter after you." My dad says. I immediately paused to think.
Wait a minute. Hyunjae. Jaehyun. Oh my God.
"How did I not connect that before?" I said, in a mumbled thought. I then shook my head and looked straight at my father. "Wait, did you actually?"
My dad gave a nervous chuckle as he used one hand to pat my shoulder. "What? Of course not. Just a funny coincidence." He gave me a quick smile before running back into the driver's seat of the car leaving me still standing.
"Huh... Wow." I said to myself before facing Jungkook's dad who pulled back his arms and gave me a warm smile. "I always did say you were like the daughter I never had." He said before following where my dad went.
A few moments later, Jungkook finally comes out of his old house right across the street, carrying one more basket in his hands. "Hey neighbor, did you miss me?" He says with a smug smile.
"Hardly." I said with a quick smile. I soon furrowed my eyebrows once he put the basket in the trunk. "Really Johnny? Another basket? My mom is gonna come out any day now with like our third one. Do we really need this much food?"
