Awakening

Wake up. It's time.

"Hey, Robbie! Over here!"

"What is it? Holy shit! What... What is that?"

"I don't fucking know but I want to touch it."

You hear that, Doctor? They want to disturb you. Such creatures... Such impolite, rude, creatures. Don't you agree?

"You touch it."

"Wha- No! What're you, crazy?!"

"C'mon, Robbie! Touch it!"

"Man the boss needs to see this. This... Thing... Interferes with the whole clearing operation. We need this done by Wednesday and with this in the way... I don't think we can do it."

Oh no! Doctor! They want to tear down the forest! We can't let them, can we? I think it's time to awaken.

The two men standing in the clearing were now in complete shock and awe. The "thing", as they called it, was moving. The large, human sized flower pod was pulsating. The top began to open and the sides fell to the ground, revealing a dark-skinned man in the fetal position. The men were frozen in fear. The man from the pod was covered in a sort of mucus and was completely naked. Though the men watching were frightened beyond belief, they couldn't help but look and... Not only were they scared but now they were self conscious.
The man from the pod began to stand, his eyes still closed. When he stood completely the men saw strange green lacerations coming from his eyes down and around his cheeks. There was also a large green gash taken from his shoulder. He opened his eyes. They were a brighter green than the grass beneath the men's feet. The plant man grinned.

"I believe there was a mistake. This is MY forest. Not yours."

The men stumbled back slightly but barely moved an inch. The plant man grinned even larger and stuck out his hand.

"Goodbye."

His voice was cruel, echoed, and sharp. It sounded like every evil in the universe had combined into one voice. If his words didn't hurt enough, the grass sure did. The men were now headless. The grass was red beneath their feet. The large grass blades reverted back to normal size.

Good job, Doctor.

I would like to be called something more.

What would that be?

The gash on the man's shoulder was filled by a miniature plant bud, much like the one the man emerged from. The man looked at his shoulder and grinned.

"Doctor Thorn. And you are Bud."

Bud? That is such a wimp name. I am more fierce than that!

Well that is too bad.

I can kill you yah'know?

I do. But you won't.

Why is that?

You know. I know.

Gosh, fine. What now?

How long were we out?

Um... 300 years?

A lot has changed. But, you can sense it, can't you?

Yes. Yes I can.

Let us go, shall we Bud?

Yes.

The man began to walk out of the forest. Plants manifested from his skin and covered him with clothing, that being pants, a belt, and a single vine strap across his chest. As he walked out, screams echoed across the forest. Birds flew away at the sound. The city was not ready for what lied dormant in those woods. And it is not ready for what it has awakened.
