"What do you mean?"
"I mean exactly what I just said. There is something I need to tell you. And you're the only ones I know can keep it a secret."
Elijah and Aiden were confused, Aiden more so than Elijah. They couldn't quite piece together why Owen was so concerned and needed to tell them something.
"This is a lot of information. And I have to tell you now. I can't tell you everything, but I will say what I can."
This made even less sense but Elijah began to understand just a little. He smirked and looked up again. Aiden stared dumbstruck at Owen.
"What?" Aiden said.
"Just... There are things I cannot tell you, but I will tell you as much as I can. It is going to be a lot so I need you guys to be ready."
Elijah nodded. Aiden made a slow and unsure nod, but a nod nonetheless.
"Okay," Owen took a deep breath, "To begin, as a basic start, I am a Time Traveler."
Silence filled the room. Then Aiden began laughing. Elijah smiled, staying quiet.
"Really? You can time travel? Sure."
"I knew you'd say that. To prove it, a police car will zoom by in thirty seconds followed by a red fire truck and two ambulances, in that order."
The trio looked outside and waited. The sirens started and got louder. Soon a police car followed by a red fire truck and two ambulances whizzed by.
"And now that black car four cars back is going to park and the driver is going to punch that guy waiting at the intersection screaming 'You piece of shit'."
As soon as Owen ended his prediction the trio watched as it happened.
"Proof enough?" Owen said, cocky.
Aiden nodded slowly in amazement. "S-sure."
"Plus," Owen added, "You can shapeshift and your brother has super smarts and can make anything. You two got your powers from an Elixir in a school science lab. You have no reason not to believe me." Elijah looked to Aiden, who looked back, and smirked and shrugged. Aiden shrugged back and looked to Owen.
"Fine," Aiden said, "You got my full attention."
Owen nodded. "Finally. Okay. So... First I will tell you the Legend, then the Prophecy. Okay?" The brothers nodded. "So, the Legend. Despite its name, it is not myth. It is fact. It is the story of existence. There is a group of beings known as The Guardians. Each Guardian is in charge of a part of existence. The eldest ones are those Guardians of the four basic elements, as humans call them; Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. These four sprung forth all of existence, creating all the other Guardians and so on. The Guardians occasionally come into contact with life. That is where the concept of 'God' and 'religion' come from. For example, the God that Christianity worships is actually the Guardian of Humans. It is the reason they exist. And pantheons, like that of Greek religion, are actually pretty accurate but at the same time mythical. Guardians exist for everything. And there is a balance to things, the Guardian of Good had a Guardian of Evil. Life has Death. Sometimes these Guardians come to the sentient creatures of existence and employ Protectors. I am a Protector of Time, employed by the Guardian of Time himself; Father Time. My job is to protect this timeline. That is why I have the ability to Time Travel, to make sure things stay balanced. That is the Guardian's and the Protector's responsibility."
"So..." Aiden said, "You're basically a God?"
Owen nodded, "Pretty much."
"Alright then," Elijah said, "So what's this Prophecy?"
"Right," Owen started, "Well... Prophecy speaks that if the balance is upset, it will quickly unravel and chaos will take control. The start of imbalance is the granting of powers without permission of the Guardians, like you two. I'm sorry to say but you made the Prophecy reality. The Guardians are going to begin employing Protectors with incredible powers. They will begin to appear all over. But, it appears - as this is only speculation - that a Guardian turned on existence. It has completely possessed a host. It is more powerful than anything anyone will ever face, it is the Guardian of Nature. Everything Natural, as in created by the Guardians, it has control over. But it has the most strength over plant life. Everything else is minor - extremely so - but useful when it is needed. It has taken the persona of Dr. Thorn. But Thorn himself isn't the Guardian. The plant on his shoulder is. It's persona is Bud. Please... Please be careful. It is assembling a team of some kind. It is going to try to take over the world, then existence. Everything will be destroyed. We don't know why it has gone against the way of a Guardian, but it has. It doesn't want to protect, it wants to destroy."
The brothers looked dumb struck and stared at Owen.
"What are we suppose to do with this information?" Aiden asked.
"Do with it... Whatever you can. I won't be able to help much, but I will do my best."
"I think I know," Elijah said. Owen and Aiden snapped their gaze to him. "You can monitor all of the events that happen in the past and future, correct?" Owen nodded. "Do you get some sort of... Notification, I guess I could say, when someone gains incredible abilities?" Owen thought for a second then nodded slowly.
"Yes... Yes I believe I do," He said, "My job is to monitor what happens in this timeline to make sure things stay balanced. Granting of powers is an important thing to monitor."
"Perfect," Elijah smiled big. He began to partially reminisce. "All my life I've dreamed of this." Elijah's smile got bigger. "We are going to assemble a team. If Thorn is doing it, then so will we. They are the villains and we... We will be the heroes. You," He pointed to Owen. "You will inform us where and when someone is about to receive powers from a Guardian."
Aiden kinda smiled and Owen nodded. "So," Aiden began, "We're gonna be like the Avengers?"
"No," Elijah said, smiling huge, "Better."
The trio all smiled at each other, silently agreeing on Elijah's new plan. Many ideas went through Elijah's head; costumes, names, gadgets, etc.
Aiden thought about the epic battles he was going to be a part of. He smiled at the thought of being an epic action hero. He was excited, but probably not quite ready yet.
Owen already knew everything that was going to happen. He knew Elijah would say this. He knew how it all was going to end. The images flashed in front of his eyes, but he put on a fake smile to support his friend.
