"Okay, show us what you got."
Lily was in one of the testing chambers. The three boys stood outside watching. Elijah was taking notes, Aiden watched with intrigue, and Owen couldn't stop thinking about his dream. Elijah had closed up shop and put blinds in front of the windows.
The test chamber was pure white with nothing in it except an equally white island sticking up in the middle of the room. On the island was a basic plastic water bottle. Lily wore her normal clothes. She grabbed the bottle, twisted off the lid, and set them both down back in the island.
"Whenever you're ready," Elijah said.
Lily took a deep breath and tried to focus. She tried to focus entirely on the water. Focus on making it move. Focused on the Guardian who bestowed this power on to her. She drew another breath. Lily's eyes snapped open, a bright blue. The bottle began to shake a little. Her hair started to change, becoming wavy. It began to flow in some imaginary wind. From the roots to the tips her hair became a bright blue. Aubrii lifted her hand up and the water came out of the bottle.
"Fantastic," Elijah said under his breath as he jotted down notes. Aiden stared in amazement and excitement. Owen was somewhere else entirely, though standing next to Aiden.
"I can't believe this is actually happening. Like in real life," Aiden said to his brother. "We always pretended and played games about it as kids but... It's actually happening. And the fate of the world is in our hands..." Aiden then began to hyperventilate. Aubrii did tricks with the water.
"Woah, Aiden, calm down," Elijah said to his brother. "Everything's gonna be okay. We will assemble a team and fight this supervillain and his team. Whether we win or lose, we do it together. Right, Owen?" He didn't respond. Owen was staring into nothing, his eyes slightly cloudy, breathing slowly, oblivious to his surroundings. Elijah reached over to tap his shoulder and made Owen flinch and yell (which broke Aubrii's focus and caused her to drop the water in herself).
"S-sorry..." Owen said. "What were you talking about?"
"About how we're all going to stick together through it all. From the beginning to the end." Owen gulped and began to sweat. "Right, Owen?" Owen rubbed his forehead and nodded unconvincingly. Elijah raised an eyebrow and asked, "Are you alright?" Another fake nod. Elijah was not convinced in the slightest but decided to let it go. He turned to Aubrii, who was soaked, and gritted his teeth. "Sorry about that."
"Don't worry," Aubrii said through her teeth, wiping her face. "About it."
"Shall we try again?" Elijah asked.
Aubrii sighed and shrugged. "Sure." Elijah pressed a button and another water bottle appeared on the island. He then proceeded to write;
Trial one ended with a break in focus admittedly caused by Owen and me.
Trail 2:
"Please excuse me," Owen said as he walked off. Aiden turned to Elijah with a confused face and Elijah shrugged. He turned back to Aubrii and gave her a thumbs up.
Owen walked into the quarters he was given and locked the door. He took a deep breath and let out a large sigh, sliding down the door and sitting on the floor.
"I have like PTSD about the future or some shit," he said to himself and chuckled. Owen wiped the sweat from his forehead and stood back up. "I need to get a hang on myself. I... I don't know what to do," He held his head in his hands. "I know everything! I've seen everything! Everything is going exactly as planned but I feel... I can't let them go... Oh for Time's sake what the hell am I suppose to do?!"
