"You want to make some trouble, huh?" Connor asked Dr. Thorn. "After that stupid piece of useless and confusing trivia I think you'll cause enough trouble for your mommy to put you in the corner."
Thorn was furious with this retort. "How dare you speak to me that way!" He reached his hand out and, with this, a giant thorny vine shot out of the ground beneath him towards Connor.
Reacting fast, Connor hopped out of the way onto the wall of a building. Thorn shot his hand towards Connor and the vine followed. Connor jumped up and back on the ground, causing the vine to smash the bricks of the wall.
Thorn growled with intense hatred. He balled his fist and raised it in the air. The vine stretched up towards the sky. He slammed his fist back down and the vine soon followed suit. Connor rolled backwards out of the way, a large, aggravating smirk across his face.
Connor pulled out his sword and lunged to the vine, piercing the plant. It was, however, a bit too thick to fully sever. Thorn's face contorted in mild pain and raised his fist and slammed it down again. Connor swung the sword overhead, fast and with a great deal of force, just enough to sever the plant's head from the body. Thorn screamed in pain as he retracted the vine.
"You... Bastard!" Thorn exclaimed.
Connor peered behind him at the separated section of vine. It flopped around much like a fish out of water. He turned back around to see Thorn's eyes glowing with more intensity than before.
"Where's the trouble, old man?" Connor taunted. Thorn did not appreciate that.
"I'm going to tear each of your limbs off. One. By. One. And use them to beat your corpse into nothing but unrecognizable filth."
"Calm down, gramps. Let settle this like adults. Rock, paper, scissors?"
Thorn screamed at the top of his lungs, his eyes glowing as bright as green stars. "How can someone like you be a person of interest?! How can you be so annoying?! How can you exist?! I must correct this! You will perish!!"
Thorn raised his fists and the earth began to tremble. Connor got low to the ground and prepared himself.
"Plants. That's what you're expecting. Right?" Thorn said, smirking. Confused, Connor nodded. Thorn laughed maniacally. "Idiot. Absolute dumbass. Here's a lesson, not like you're gonna need it after this. Always expect the unexpected."
Thorn let out another yell, raising his arms with difficulty, as the ground's movement intensified. Connor struggled to stay stable, unable to decide what to do next. The concrete below him began to crack and raise. The rumbling and shaking got more and more intense. Thorn's tells got louder. His eyes for brighter. Suddenly, with a large BOOM, the ground split open and the soil beneath the concrete shot upwards in a huge brown geyser.
Connor was knocked up and backward from the blast and caught himself at the end of the alley. Thorn clenched his fist and the soil morphed into the rough shape of a fist. It slammed down, with Thorn's, into Connor, crushing him. Connor screamed in pain, being envelope by the dark mass. Thorn lifted him up and slammed him back down, more screams of pain ensued.
"Do you feel stupid yet, hero?! Doo you feel your years of benevolent ignorance catching up to you?!" Thorn bellowed.
Another slam to the ground. Thorn began to suffocate Connor with the soil, pressing his hands together, forcing the soil to press into the center of the mass; where Connor was located. No more screams of pain could be heard. Just the noise of constant moving soil, the grunts of Dr. Thorn, and the ground creaking and crumbling into a pit of destruction.
Thorn breathed heavily and relaxed. His hands fell to his sides and his eyes returned to the normal abnormally green eyes. The soil unclenched and spread across the ground and filled the hole. Connor lied, motionless, on and in the mound of dirt.
"Fucking... Idiot..." Thorn struggled to speak, "Good... Riddance..."
Dr. Thorn turned away and began to leave the scene. Turning down an old street he disappeared, leaving nothing but Connor and the destruction of the alleyway behind.
A figure stepped into the alley from the right, hesitant on entering. It appeared to be a female, average height with brown curly hair. She was wearing a strangely shaped dress with a large red plus-sign on the chest. She whispered in Connor's ear, "Not yet," and touched his heart. Her hand glowed a faint white light. Then, just as quickly as she entered the scene, she left.
Connor opened his eyes and struggled to sit up. Once he got his bearings he tried to piece together what just happened.
"Did I just die?" He said, out loud.
Loudly.
