Tamika sat in front of the large bathroom mirror over the sink in her father's house. She looked down at her legs. In a few days she may never need this wheelchair again. Instead of atrophied and dead weights, her muscular lanky limbs may be back and able to carry her wherever her heart so desired.
A knock sounded on her door. Her father's voice carried through. "They're here."
"Ok. I'm coming!" Tamika called back. She grabbed her bag and set it in her lap, wheeling out of the room. She looked up at Dennis. "I think I remembered everything..."
"We're only going for a few weeks bug." Her father smiled at her reassuringly. "Jamil's bag felt like you packed his entire room."
Dennis took her bag and headed outside while Tamika went to gather her son from the kitchen. As usual the five year old was in the midst of his two favorite things: eating and talking to his cousin Shuri on his very own set of kimoyo beads.
The last five years had been difficult at best. After the soul stone was destroyed by Thanos with the other five power stones, Serpent valley changed forever. The mystical place lost all of its supernatural power. The mist disappeared, opening the valley up to the rest of Wakanda.
T'challa, General Okoye, Queen Ramonda and half of the Wakandan population disappeared with the snap. Of course Erik was immediately blamed. And he became the most hated man in the country. In the entire world actually. His wife as well, by extension.
Only by Shuri's right as heir to the Wakandan throne was Tamika able to be smuggled out of the country safely. The entirety of Wakanda was calling for her imprisonment and execution as a coconspirator with her husband. But as usual, Erik had prepared for this. With Nakia and Sombre's help she was smuggled into north Niganda along with most of the banished people who followed him. Erik was still almost worshiped in this region. It was secured and protected by his death regiment. It would always be a safe haven for his wife and his child.
Back in the US, life wasn't much better as the news of what happened in Wakanda went international. Dennis became a target and had to be hidden away as well. And Tamika was left to grieve for her husband and give birth to their son alone in the small secluded village named after his father. She stayed in Niganda for several years, but as the heat died down in the outside world, she returned to Boston and her father with Jamil.
Soon after the snap Shuri took her brother's place as black panther and queen of Wakanda.

She was a very young leader so she was challenged immediately. But Shuri had prepared for this moment along side her older brother, and despite constantly being underestimated, she was more than capable to take his place. She was not only the rightful heir to T'challa's bloodline but also respected by many of the banished peoples as well as loyal Wakandans. Shuri's relationship with Nakia, Nkem and the Hatut zeraze secured Erik's wish to reunite the entire country and every Wakandan who was previously exiled. Shuri accomplished this feat, uniting all eighteen tribes including the banished peoples under one queen in the next five years. And with the loss of half of the world's population, Shuri also carried out her brother's wishes and extended T'Challa's outreach programs across the entire planet. With the collapsing economies and social structures, Shuri not only saw the chance to extend humanitarian efforts but subtly enforced an economic change by redistributing world wide resources equally among those who were left alive literally obliterating the gap between the oppressed and their oppressors. The fact that a black woman did this also affected race relations throughout the world. And five years later there were Wakandan centers operating in every major city in every corner of the world influencing the new world order. It was apparent that Shuri was neither her brother nor was she Erik. Yet she was greatly influenced by both.
