It was the fourth day since the 'ran away girl' - as Jenna liked to call her in her thoughts, escaped from the cruel hands of the kidnappers.
She was living in the woods because the detective persuaded Jenna to keep her there for sometime for the sake of the investigation. Initially, she had vehemently objected to the idea. Insisting that she didn't want to invite any unwanted guests to her house. But after Reid told her that it would aid in the investigation, she reluctantly agreed.
Lily hadn't caused any kind of trouble though. This made Jenna relax a little. Rather, she had volunteered to do most of the work in the house which ranged from dusting items to cleaning the house. However she never once stepped outside the house.
Jenna had began to grow fond of the girl in just four days, when unfortunately Reid told her it was safe to take Lily back to where she belonged. She had actually forgotten that Lily might have a real home somewhere. It hurt to let go but after the detective asked Lily where she belonged, the deal was sealed. Lily was going to live with Jenna.
Unfortunately for Lily, she had always been tossed about from one foster home to another since the age of eleven and now she was eighteen. The one she currently belonged to was the family she had stayed with the longest: eleven months.
After Jenna had prepared lunch and Lily had finished vacuum cleaning the rooms, they sat down for a chat. Lily had told part of her life story but what she failed to add was the kind of life she was living. Due to her situation, she resulted to stealing petty things from shops to sell. And during the night, she worked as a stripper in a small club. She wasn't paid well but it was the least she could do to earn some money. The owner of the club had told her to see him at the end of the week if she indeed needed more money. It was rather unfortunate that she couldn't make it. Whatever the case, there was no way she letting Jenna know that side of her.
It was Jenna's turn to tell her story. She talked about almost everything and didn't leave the part of her lost daughter out. Rather she excluded the thing that caused she and her ex-husband's divorce but stated plainly that she was divorced.
Lily listened intently, taking in everything Jenna had said. As a matter of fact, when Jenna talked about Mia, Lily didn't look surprised. If indeed Mia was kidnapped, then she was certain that Matt knew something about it. Nevertheless, she promised that she would help in any way she could.
The two had spoken at length about their life but Lily's own seemed to be the most touching. Right from her birth to her present state. She had gone through so much. Including a near sexual assault by her third foster dad at the age of thirteen. Her own mother had died when giving birth to her and her Dad vanished when her mother told him of the pregnancy.
Lily however was somehow like Mia. Both were outgoing but one could tell that Lily had this shy side. she didn't trust easily and the reason was obvious. Her life hadn't been worthy of anyone's trust.

"Quarter past eight." Jenna read out loud from the clock. "Lily? Do you want to watch a movie or something. I'm quite bored." Lily had managed to distract her a bit from her misery. Jenna was a tad livelier.
"Anything you wish to do Ma'am." she replied.
"Ma'am? Ma'am? Seriously Lily. You've hurt my feelings. Upon all the times I've told you to call me Jenna, you still want to stick to your formality." Jenna feigned hurt and shook her head in mock disappointment.
"Um..I actually meant Jenna. It will take some time for me to get used to that name." she smiled coyly.
Jenna chuckled. "I was just pulling your legs. Don't worry. Well I say we should put on a good movie. So sit." she said patting the spot on the couch beside her. Lily did as she was told and when the movie came on, the two sat and watched intently. After a while Jenna paused it and dashed to the kitchen to get some soda and popcorn to eat as the movie went on.
By the time the movie had ended, the two were half asleep. Lily's eyelids kept shutting slowly then fluttering open. Jenna was dozing to the extent that she almost fell of the couch. This process kept repeating itself until Jenna woke up with a jolt due to the pounding on the front door. Lily's eyes were already wide in alert.
"Who's that?" Jenna asked in a hushed tone.
"How am I supposed to know that?"she snapped, making Jenna stare at her.
The banging sound was repeated and this time, Jenna rose from her seat abruptly but without a sound. She motioned for Lily to go her room but Lily wouldn't budge.
Jenna furrowed her eyebrows, wondering where Lily's sudden defiant behavior came from. Jenna mouthed the words 'go' to Lily but she in return mouthed a no. There was nothing Jenna could do but sigh.
It was the fourth time the anonymous person had pounded on the door. Jenna moved closer but steadily.
Just as soon as she was behind the door the manly voice bellowed, "Lily!"
So hey another chapter. Short, maybe not too descriptive but thanks for checking it out anyway. Find out what happens to Lily in the other chapters to follow.
