Jenna
"How on earth am I supposed to calm down? Huh tell me?! Brown speak I'm listening!" Jenna yelled. She paused waiting for a reply. But when Mr.Brown was about to speak, she interrupted him.
"My baby. My precious jewel, has vanished for five years." she counted the number on her fingers and shoved it in his face. His expression turned grim; somehow pissed at what she just did.
"A girl I helped and grew fond off, has been taken away too. And you have the nerve; the fucking nerve, to tell me to calm down???!" she barked, speaking quietly to stress on 'the fucking nerve' and practically screaming the rest.
Mr. Brown only sighed. There was nothing he could do to tame his fuming ex wife. Nevertheless, he couldn't help feeling helpless just like her. At the same time, he kept thinking about how Mia and her mother were so much alike.
"I swear if Chloe disappears I'll kill myself." she mumbled pacing up and down in the living room. Again Mr. Brown sighed. "Could do anything but sigh?" she literally spat the question.
"I'm only trying to show my helplessness. In a different way."he replied. Jenna only rolled her eye balls.
Finally, she slumped down into a sofa. "Speaking of Chloe. Where is she?"
"School." he paused and stole a glance at the clock. "She should be back in about forty-five minutes time."
Chloe was in her final year of high school at some place that Jenna couldn't quite remember. Unlike Jenna and Mia, Chloe had black hair. It was just as long as theirs though.
After that, there was an awkward silence. Each person engulfed in his or her own thoughts. Jenna didn't know how long she had been asleep or when she slept but she was awakened by Chloe's piercing scream.
"Mummy!" she exclaimed and reached down to hug her mother. Jenna's eyes were now open but she was quite perplexed.
"Ow sweetheart. I missed you."she said sleepily when she realized what was going on.
"Same here. Did you just arrive?"Chloe asked. Jenna sat up.
"About an hour and a half ago. How was school?"
"Cool. How long do you plan on staying?"Chloe asked changing the subject.
"A week or two." Jenna replied with uncertainty.
"Oh great. There's so much I have to update you on. A lot has happened."she said whispering the latter part. Jenna furrowed her brows with interest. "You don't say."
Mother-daughter gossip: Mr.Brown always said.
***
Later that evening, the incomplete family was having dinner with Paul Griffin- Mia's fiancé. He was invited by Mr.Brown just so that he would feel like a part of the family. Jenna would never invite Paul over. She hated the guy's guts. To Jenna, he was too set back in everything he did. Very lazy, in short. How Mia met him and fell for him, Jenna couldn't comprehend.
"Any news?"Paul asked while chewing on his food.
"The detective is still on it. But there's a clue as to where she is." Mr.Brown answered. Paul stopped chewing and gazed at Mr.Brown.
His reaction wasn't a surprise. After five clueless years, a clue finally popped up. "What clue?" he began chewing again.
By the time Mr.Brown finished the story, Paul had stopped eating and was resting his head on both hands set on each other with his elbows on the table, watching Mr.Brown intently.
"So do you believe they took her there?" he finally asked.
"I'm not sure. We don't know their exact hideout or where its at. Nothing. Just the fact that it could be that she's there." Paul sighed, changed the subject and resumed eating.
After a long chat with Jenna and her ex husband, which Jenna didn't contribute so much, Paul decided it was time to leave.
"Ugh! I hate his guts!"Jenna spilled out her thoughts immediately he left.
"Mum!" Chloe exclaimed.
Chloe lay in bed thinking when her mother knocked and entered her room. The two spoke randomly about what they both missed out in each others life. Since there was practically nothing new in Jenna's life, Chloe told her mother about her boyfriend whom she had been dating for more than half a year.
They both joked and laughed about the topic until Jenna bade her daughter goodnight and left.
Chloe's message tone rang and she, thinking it was her boyfriend rushed to check it. When she opened the unread message, her heart skipped a beat and her hands quivered.
"Do you want your sister back?" She read.
Quite short but how was it? I'd like to know what you think.
Anyway this is how I would be switching scenes to keep you updated on both sides.
