A/N:
I really hope you're enjoying the book. Some people speak of my 'deadly' cliffhangers. Lol. I'll relieve you from a near death one of these days but in the mean time....enjoy :). HAPPY READING!
Mia
Kayla was just blabbing about her new boyfriend whilst she was in the queue with Lily and Mia. And by boyfriend she meant a supervisor who let her just five minutes of break from work.
You couldn't blame her though. It was very rare to find a lenient supervisor.
"He's probably expecting a child somewhere and perhaps, he was given the good news before work hours." Mia stated flatly. "Ha ha...Yeah" Lily chimed in.
When they were all served, they left the long queue behind them to find a suitable spot to sit and eat. They ate in silence until Mia laughed out loud for a reason only she knew.
"Spill." Kayla ordered.
"I just remembered how Isaac and I lied to the boss two nights ago." she replied.
"Oh. I still can't believe he fell for that crap. I mean, he heard you talking just fine right ? So how could he possibly believe that you had a serious stomach ache and that Isaac was taking you to Rose? Like no questioning, nothing. And didn't he pause to think about where Isaac could have probably seen you before taking you to Rose?" Kayla said not being able to believe the boss' stupidity.
"I guess he's not so smart after all." Lily put in. They ate in silence after that.
Just as they were going to have a bath, a bell rang. An assembly. The women rushed and gathered at the center they were supposed to be for any assembly. The boss mounted the platform and spoke.
"I have no time to waste. I'd be leaving tomorrow. As usual in search of more girls. This time around, Isaac would be in charge." He paused. The crowd was murmuring among themselves. "I don't want to hear any complaint when I return. Or...." he trailed off, "Punishment" Mia thought.
"I trust Isaac would do a good job. Dismissed!" he ended and the crowd dispersed with everyone talking among each other.
"Oh sweet! The tyrant is leaving. What a relief." Kayla blew a sigh of relief. "Totally." Lily agreed.
Meanwhile, Mia was deep in thought. Finally, she could visit her twins: Meryl and Marilyn. After days of searching, Conrad and Isaac found the twins and their grandmother in a cave.
Once they were sure the men had completed their search, they returned to the log cabin.
"Mia!" Kayla shoved her in the ribs. Kayla was twenty-five and Mia was twenty-seven but it sometimes seemed like Kayla was older with the way she treated Mia.
"What?! Was that necessary??" Mia whined, slightly annoyed. "Sorry but I was just thinking about meeting my girls tomorrow." That silenced Kayla for the rest of the short trip to the riverside.

Mia was up early in the morning, thinking about a plan. She needed a plan if she badly wanted to see her girls. Her only worry was her supervisor.
By six, everyone was up and making their way to the work site. Mia made her way out of the shelter as well but not with the intention of working. She was going to see Rose.
On reaching Rose's medium-sized house, she was immediately allowed entry by the guards.
"Rose can I speak to you for a moment?" She said when spotted her with an old woman.
"Sure." Rose gave the old lady a small nod, an indication that she could leave.
"I want to see my girls." she went straight to the point.
"Well that wasn't a surprise. Fortunately....you can." Rose announced letting out a small breathe. Mia's eyes went wide with surprise and excitement. She thought it was going to be difficult but fortunately, she was wrong.
"Are you serious?" she asked. Not sure if she should believe it.
"Of course. Let's go." Rose replied but Mia didn't budge.
"Are you coming?" she turned to face Mia.
"What about Isaac? Won't you tell him?"
"Ugh..is that what you're worried about? He suggested this in the first place. I think he's giving everyone a break or something." she paused. "I know what you're thinking. Yes Kayla can come too. And your other friend."
Mia couldn't believe that seeing her twins could be so easy. She beamed with excitement as she and Rose made their way outside. She ran off to give the good news to Lily and Kayla and in a few minutes the three-some together with Rose were on their way to the log cabin where the girls and their grandmother were.
As they made their way through the forest, shoving branches out of their way to create a clearer path, Mia couldn't help the feeling of a Deja vú.
Just like the day she was captured. She shook her head slightly to get rid of the thoughts for some peace of mind.
After the almost twenty-minute walk, they spotted the cabin. As they drew closer, Mia felt nothing but joy. Rose knocked gingerly on the door as they waited for a response.
"Who's there?" a manly voice asked. Conrade's voice, Mia noticed.
"It's me. Rose. And Mia." she answered. Satisfied with the answer, he opened the door to let them in.
Mia was the first to step in but just as soon as she did, her twins ran to her causing her to loose balance but regained it after grabbing on to something.
She picked up Meryl, putting in so much effort as she did so. "Well look who's become a big girl. Some weight you've gained there." Mia complimented.
"I've missed you mummy." Meryl said softly in her childish tongue as she laid her head down on her mother's shoulder the way a four-year old would behave.
"I've missed you too baby." she kissed her forehead then set her down before taking Marilyn from Conrad.
"What's wrong Marilyn?" The little girl only shook her head. "Does someone miss mummy too?" she nodded. "Awww." Mia pecked her girl as she did to the first.
"Hey girls won't you say hi to aunt Kayla?" Mia asked.
"Oh my! I forgot." Meryl threw a hand over her open mouth and run into Kayla's arms.
"Your mum wasn't lying. Grandma sure feeds you well." Kayla commented. "How are you sweetheart?"
"Cool." Mia's mouth drew into an O of surprise.
"Who taught you that?" she inquired.
"Well I heard daddy saying it to uncle Isaac. It was great so I decided to take it on." she replied. Mia only shook her head.
Kayla set Meryl down and Marilyn walked over to her. As she stood infront of her, she courtesied. Kayla did same. "How do you do my fair lady?" Kayla asked.
"Very well Ma'am. How do you do?" she replied to which she offered Kayla her hand. Kayla took it gracefully and pecked it slightly as was done in the medevial days.
All this while, everyone observed with great interest. Finally Mia spoke.
"What are you teaching my babies?"
"How to be ladies." Kayla replied. The rest laughed. After the introductions between the girls and Lily were done, everyone settled down.
Just as they all talked and chatted happily, there was a knock on the door. Everyone froze, including the girls.
Ok so pardon me! This was probably one boring chapter with another cliffhanger I agree. Probably a lot of mistakes too but bare with me please.
It'd be better in the upcoming chapters.
Dont forget to vote and comment tho. :)
