We live in an online world,
Show me your greatest hits,
Finest moments cut and trimmed,
Display before the world perfection,
Set your standards high, expect more.

Shake my hand and smile,
Hold my hand and hold me there,
Close but always an arm's length away,
Convince yourself I can't see.

The smile that doesn't reach your eyes,
Hidden lines left by tears,
Hollow joy in your voice,
I see them well, know them well,
Come closer look upon me.

Blackened eyes from restless nights,
Flesh scarred by piteous grasps for peace,
Hear my songs and know,
There are far more flops than hits,
Shake my hand and call me friend,
Give me your best and worst,
Distance nay hide need and protect pride,
But WiFi does not work well for support,
Lean on me let me be your friend,
Not just a fan of your greatest hits.
