Annoyed. Frustrated. Angry.
The usual feelings I had in me when I was home. Home being the place where I was forced to live with my mother and some horrible memories that will always haunt me. The only good thing about that house was my little sister. But right now she was at school and I was stuck with my mother dearest.
She slammed the plate of butter toasts in front of me, and a glass of water. I was sure I smelt tea boiling a while ago, but I guess that wasn't for me. I started nibbling on my toast and felt her glare on me. It stopped having it's effect on me a while back, but it still hurt.
I ignored it, which made her angrier.
"You're going to Hell, Faiyaz." Here we go.
I sighed and got up, not in the mood for this. I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked towards the front door, with my mother fuming behind me.
"Be grateful, you spoiled brat! No one else will feed you!" She screamed, and I ignored it.
I thought about my dad, if he would be here, I won't have to go through all this. I still missed him, even after ten years. I guess you just never stop missing people as amazing as my abba was.
If it were a few years ago, I'd have cried. But it felt like all my tears have dried up. Nothing bothered me anymore. Nothing made me feel anything.
Well, nothing but Jude.
The thought of him made me smile. After his father came back home, Jude kind of pulled me into his life. Through small gestures at first. Spending time with his family, which I already did a lot. Running errands with him, which I came to love just as much. Then it gradually came to this, him dropping me off to college everyday. I protested at first, but that bastard was really really good at getting his way.
So here I was, waiting for him to pick me up in his car and drop me off at college. I looked at my phone to see I still had five minutes, so I decided to smoke a cigarette.
I had just flicked the butt and crushed it under my shoes when his sleek, silver car pulled up in front of me. I smiled and got into the passenger seat like everyday, throwing my backpack into the backseat. I put the seatbelt on as he sped the car down the road.
"What's wrong?" He asked. Fuck, I thought I was hiding it well.
"Just my mom being herself, I couldn't even finish breakfast." I sighed. Jude's mouth tightened into a thin line as he pulled up in front of a cafe.
"Sit." He ordered me and was gone even before I could tell him not to.
I huffed as I sat back. I was going to be late to college. I checked my schedule to see I actually had the first period off, so I relaxed. The thought of missing out classes wasn't good. I needed good scores and I couldn't afford to let them drop in my final year.
Jude came back with a small paper box and a cup of coffee in his hands. He knew I liked black coffee with no sugar, he even teased me for it, but it tasted perfect.
He handed me the box, which had donuts and I smiled happily up at him. I started eating, offering him a donut which he took. We ate in silence for a few minutes.
"Kitten?" He called me and I looked at him. My stomach was full and I was sipping my coffee.
"You really don't remember what today is, do you?" He asked when I looked at him and I felt my brows furrow. I was never good with dates or names, I must be forgetting something. I tried really hard to remember what date it was but couldn't. So I shook my head.
Jude sighed and parked the car at the side of the road, now I noticed that it wasn't the usual road we took to go to my college. I looked at him in confusion, what was he doing?
