I hate my alpha

~chapter fifteen~

[Cole's POV]

I woke up to chaos. I looked around and noticed that I was in the infirmary. I blinked and looked around to the pack doctor patching me up. I had four long gashes from my left shoulder down to my right hip bone. I tried to sit up but two betas pushed me back down.

"You can't move around much alpha. Im gonna sedate you. You'll feel much better when you wake up again. " the doctor said and injected me with something. I went to unconsciousness freaking out about Alex and if he was okay.

When I woke up again I was surprised to catch his scent. Orange and mint.
"A-alex" I asked groggily.  I heard bones cracking and breaking and then the padding of feet. And the he was looming over me.

"I thought you died" he said in a horsy tone. I blinked the tears out of my eyes looking at him only to notice that he had teary eyes too.
"I'm.... I'm okay " I crooked out. He sighed and shaked his head.
"How long do you think you have been unconscious alpha? " he asked. I flinched at what he called me before what he said really registered
"A few hours? " I said confused. He sighed and brushed a strand of my hair behind my ear.

"You've been out for a few months." He stated making me freez.
"After the doctor sedated you, you were supposed to wake up in 4-6 hours but what every they did you were unresponsive. After a while they figured what was wrong with you but they didn't know how to fix it" he added

"What.... What was it? "I asked slightly scared to know what the answer was but I swallowed hard and waited for it
"Hunter was trying to take over again but you wouldn't let him. Even when you were unconscious you still fought. You fought and that was weekning your body. It was only a matter of time before one of you won. And the one who lost.... The doctors said that if you lost.... I wouldn't hear from you again. That hunter was trying to get rid of you" he said. I didn't know what or how to reply to that.

"Is he... Is hunter? " I asked a few minutes later
"Dead?  Yeah" he said I swallowed down my nerves
"Am I human? " I asked weekly
"We don't know" he replied softly.

I tried to get up but the second I moved he had his hand on my shoulder and he pushed me down.
"You need rest" he said gently

"I remember you know. The way you saved me. Put your self in front of danger to protect me" I said he smiled down at me.
"That's what a mate does isn't it? " he asked and my eyes went wide
"You haven't rejected me yet? " I asked surprised
"I have no plan of rejecting you" he said softly
"But... But I.... " I statered. He cupped my cheek and smiled softly.
"Rest love" he whispered and left the room.

[Alex's POV]
I had been a mess since they figured out what was wrong with Cole. After announcing it and the fact that our alpha was temporarily out of commission they all looked to me for guidance, there almost rouge inmates Luna. I have been leading this pack for the last 9 months. Slowly I started to miss him. His scent, the couple of times I had seen him smile, his beautiful emerald green eyes. I missed him so much that I started to realise that I can't truly be happy with out him. I started sleeping next to him. On the floor in would form but still next to him. I wanted to protect him and make sure he had some one near him when he woke up.

When he did I got a couple of minutes with him but after that he was swamped with healers and members of his family. I stood on the corner watching. Making sure that no one was making him uncomfortable. Suddenly the room was silent. Every one had there eyes on the pack doctor.

"We have run some tests and we have some good and bad knees" the doctor said looking at Cole then at me. I walked next to Cole and held his hand.

"The good news first" Cole said weekly
"The good news is your still a were and your wounds will heal in the next couple of hours" the doctor said
"And the bad knews? " I asked. I could feel the tension in the room. Every one was holding there breath.
"Unfortunately since Cole made it hunter didn't. That means Cole isn't an alpha anymore" the doctor said. Panic rose in the room. Whispers and murmurs.

"So who's gonna be our alpha if it isn't Cole? "Some one asked from the crowd. Just then the elders made there way from the crowd.
"We don't have a born alpha and we don't have an heir unfortunately so for the time being alex will continue to lead that is till they produce an heir " the elder said. After a few minutes the room cleared out and all who were left were Cole, me and the elders.

"We will get a heir correct? " the elder who spoke asked
"Of course " I replied and then they left.
"Alex... " cole started
"Its alright we can wait till your healed before procreating" I said
"Alec we can't.... I can't make you carry my pups"he said weekly
"Who said anything about carrying your pups? "I asked turning back to him. He looked at me wide eyed.
"Your not an alpha anymore love.  if you want pups your going to had to birth them for me" I said softly and kissed his forehead. He sighed and silently nodded.
