The morning sun woke me up. This normally wouldn't be possible because I was inside a tent but my tent was special. It was enchanted so that you could see the sky. I rubbed my eyes and threw off my animal skin covers, because modern day comforters weren't my style. I say preparing to get up until I sensed a presence within my quarters. I stiffened and looked around the room. By the tent flap was a girl, fifteen or sixteen, with the unmistakable glare of a hunter but with a cold edge reserved just for the goddess. She was fairly lanky, not tall enough to be considered towering but she was up there. She had a bow slung over her shoulder, opposite her quiver. She was clad in a silver parka, like most hunters, over a simple grey shirt both looking a little worse for wear. Her jeans were also worn, torn and badly sown up. Her eyes were a steely grey, penetrating my soul. Her mouth was creased in a permanent frown as it was always. Her skin was tanned bronze, warm looking yet also with the coolness that came with all the hunters. This was Alexus Galyna, daughter of the moon. In my mind I would say she is a illegitimate child, not one of true blood. As I was a maiden goddess I do not have children. Alexus was more along the lines of "gift child" like Athena's children. She always considered herself my complete daughter. We never really saw eye to eye. I wasn't particularly unhappy to see her, but she was always the bringer of bad news. I always thought that I had a duty to protect her though, no matter who she was and what she did. Alexus crossed her arms and stared some more. This was highly unusual. She typically avoided me at all costs. I swung my feet over the bed and got up, walking over to her "What brings you here?" I asked, trying to keep my voice as neutral as possible "nothing good. I heard you turned mortal. Naturally I've come to see myself." Alexus dismissed me with a simple wave "yes. It is true. I am no longer divine." I spread my arms and gave her a sad smile. Alexus sniffed "how does it feel? To be just like me." Her tone was somewhat bitter "it's..." I started, contemplating how I truly felt about it "... I suppose it's nicer than I thought it might be. Being mortal is very different than I originally thought." I put a hand to my chest "you feel things as we do now. Good luck." Alexus chuckled to herself darkly before exiting the tent in, what I would call, a flamboyant manner. I looked after her sadly, thinking about what she meant. I guess best wishes are in order. I quickly changed and looked towards the side of my bed where an item I longed for rested. My divine bow laid next to my bed, glowing silver as though it was bathed in the moonlight though the sun shone above us. I sighed, wishing I could use it though knowing that my now mortal body could not handle the strain of a godly weapon. I exited my tent and looked around the hunter's camp. It had been a semi-short time since I'd seen it but I had missed it. I was glad to be back. Hunters awoke from their tents everywhere, smiling and blinking in the sun as though they were happy their mistress had finally returned. I felt good for once. I walked over to the campfire but on my way I ran into an image I found amusing. Percy Jackson and Carmen were curled up together. It must've been cold during the night and their survival instincts must have kicked in, forcing them to cuddle for body warmth. Survivability would, ironically, be the death of them. In the social sense of course. I kicked Percy awake, awaking Carmen by default. Percy shot up, Riptide coming to life in his hands "whuuzah!?" His battle cry was not one I found particularly frightening though the dual swords at my neck were quite thrilling. Carmen also had made his sword appear and put it to my throat, hence the dual swords. Truly they were warriors at heart. Sadly, though, every hunter's bow in the vicinity was trained on their heads. Percy blinked and realized what he was doing, he capped Riptide as he patted Carmen on the shoulder quickly as though he was telling him to back off in an almost... broship? Manner... I was not sure what to call it but they seemed to have gotten closer than before in one night. Carmen flicked his wrist and his sword disappeared once more "why'd you wake me up? I was having a nice dream... it was nice and warm." He murmured, looking like he was displease but obviously too sleepy to be too unhappy "nice and warm indeed. You had Percy Jackson as your pillow." I remarked, staring pointedly at my hunters to stand down. They all obeyed grudgingly except for one. Alexus kept her bow steady, aimed at Carmen's face with a grimace on her own. Even though she basically despises me she will still protect me. I wonder what brought this forth. I resisted the urge to smirk as I turned my attention back on to the boys "you used me as a pillow?" Percy said, slightly confused "I don't know. You look soft enough." Carmen poked at Percy's stomach experimentally before Percy swatted him away playfully "I am not soft. I have perfectly toned abs." Percy defended himself. Nobody was really sure if Percy had abs or not, nobody currently present had seen Percy undressed as of late. I spoke up, though their banter was amusing "it doesn't matter wether Percy has muscles or not... mostly. We must drop you off at Camp Half Blood as soon as possible." The boys looked at me with blank faces "how will we get there?" Carmen asked, straightening out "Perseus. Your Hellhound, can you call it?" I asked, thinking that was the fastest way "I'm not sure. She should be awake by now and she should've found me..." Percy started to look worried "the hunter's perimeter spell. It must've kept her out." Carmen perked up, showing that he was actually somewhat intelligent "in that case she's gone home. I can't call her here if she's that far away." Percy stated, relieved "well that complicates matters. We'll have to find someway to get back but for now I see no problem with the two of you staying with the Hunt." I declared aloud. Some hunter's sighed, other groaned loudly. Alexus's face simply grew angrier while her aim came ever closer to a more dangerous part of Carmen's anatomy. She worried me. I gave Carmen the sorriest look I could muster and then waved Percy forward. Percy followed me as I entered a tent which was closer to mine than most others. Percy was hesitant to follow me there but after it gave him a look he reluctantly trailed after me. He had seemed timid before but now he saw who's tent it was. Thalia Grace. Deep sleeper and the lieutenant. "Would you please wake her up? I have tried many tactics but nothing seems to be too effective." I confided in him. Percy nodded, his face split with a rambunctious grin "I know just the thing." His devilish smile didn't fade as he walked over to her bedside and whispered in her ear "Green Day disbanded while you were with the hunt." Thalia bolted straight out of bed, a murderous glint in her eyes "SONUVA-" she proceeded to say words that not even Gordon Ramsey would say. Percy hunched over with laughter, his face becoming red. I was shocked at first and then I laughed as well which caused my two companions to stop and watch me with interested eyes "m'lady... I've never seen you laugh like that before." Thalia said softly, though it was hard to take her seriously with her bedhead "somehow it sounds like bells..." Percy said, looking as though her was in awe which was somewhat uncomfortable for me "your right. How does a mortal even make that sound." Thalia threw aside her blankets and stood up, blinking rapidly as she swayed off balance "i was unaware that my laughing was so interesting." I said, a little embarrassed "it is... unlike you." Thalia replied, trying to unsuccessfully to tame her hair "I'd have to agree." Percy said as he helped Thalia out with her hair almost unconsciously and Thalia let him with the same sort of absentminded-ness. Cousins, huh. They act more like siblings. "Regardless of that. We have hit a wall when it came to figuring out a way to bring our guests home. I thought you could think up something that might help." I stated, coughing loudly "I dunno, m'lady, I can try. Lemme get dressed first..." she stared pointedly at Percy, Almost like a joke or a challenge or somehow both "Perseus. Let us leave Thalia to her devices. We can discuss this later. For now-" I smiled "-breakfast!" I led him out of the tent to which I was greeted with a surprise. Alexus and Carmen were getting on each other's bad side. The two of them had their hands clasped together besides their faces which had their foreheads pressed together in rigorous combat. You could almost see the sparks and lightning between them. Both of them were gritting their teeth and shoving against the other with all of their might while the other hunters watched with amusement, most with the edge that came when males entered their territory. I looked at Percy "I will be honest with you. I do not have any clue as to what's happening here." I spoke worriedly "me neither. I think we should stop them before they kill each other." The swordsman replied, looking at his new freind with worried eyes. Percy took the lead as I was inexperienced with this sort of thing. I was usually in the fight, not breaking them up. Percy grabbed their shoulders and shoved them apart but they both had excellent reflexes and in the heat of battle... they did what came naturally to them. Alexus grabbed Percy's wrist and yanked downwards, effectively ripping his hand off of her shoulder though it took Percy's body with it. Carmen grabbed him by the forearm and twisted it around while putting his hand under Percy's elbow at the same time, putting Carmen in a position where he held all the power as well as a good place to break Percy's arm. All in all, Percy was being torn in two very painful places simultaneously. He cried out in pain "c'mon you guys! This hurts like all Hades!" Carmen growled at him and then blinked rapidly before letting Percy go "sorry man. I guess I got a little carried away there." Alexus responded to him with an almost feral snarl "don't touch me!" But she let him go. Percy rubbed his shoulder and his wrist "Gods. I get that the hunter knows this stuff but you? Where'd you learn that?" He winced in pain. Carmen's face showed an emotion I'd never seen on his face until then but only for a split second. Utter fear. Carmen responded but as he did I noticed that he nervously rubbed his forearm "you pick up a thing or two when you meet feral demigods." He shook his head "Feral demigods?" Percy asked, confused "yeah. Demigods that don't want anything to do with their divine parentage. Or demigods that aren't the Heroes that their supposed to be. Runaways, I guess you'd call 'em." Carmen answered, his eyes flicked over to Alexus before returning to Percy's face "Well. 'Runaways.' You've gotta be feral then, right?" Percy asked and I hissed at him that he was being insensitive "feral. I've always hated that word... but yeah. I suppose you'd say that." Carmen looked almost bitter, regret and disdain tainting his words "idiot." I whispered to Percy and he looked at me with an apologetic face "feral sounds pretty mean. I guess it's an accurate description though, for this mongrel." Alexus gave Carmen a look of pure loathing "Hey! Call me mongrel one more time!" Carmen started forward but Percy held him back with one hand "can we dial it down a little?" He asked "shut it, male." Alexus snarled at him. I was stunned. Did she not know who Percy Jackson was? Percy looked taken aback as well but Carmen seemed like he had expected that from the beginning "Alexus! He is no mere male! This is Perseus Jackson, Hero of Olympus!" I told her, not really thinking it would work "so? Orion was an amazing Hunter. It didn't make him any less of a jackass." Alexus threw back before storming off "that went well." Percy sighed, putting his hand to his face "it went the only way it could've." Carmen stated "I'm guessing whatever just happened it wasn't good." Thalia said, appearing as she straightened her quiver "no. It was a complete, as they say, fiasco." I said grimly "you. Carmen or whatever your name is. Go fix what you broke." Thalia said, flicking an uncaring hand his way "that's a little unfair but okay." Carmen turned and went after Alexus before Percy and I could start protesting "judging from the looks on your faces I messed up, didn't I?" Thalia said worriedly "indeed you did." I sighed "you've doomed us all." Percy told her dramatically "this all rests on him now. Gods help us." I said, trying to find the any sort of good in this. What have I gotten myself into?
