You tried not to think.

Unfortunately, you had much to think about. But instead, you just changed into your work clothes mindlessly, gently draping your beautiful gown over your bed with a sad look. The night wasn't even close to being over, but you couldn't work in a dress. 

When you were completely ready, you made your way to the living room and were immediately surprised at what you saw. An unconscious Yoongi had been laid on the couch, likely by Jungkook. With a pop of your knuckles, you sat down beside him and began.

You texted your cohorts with an urgency that was uncharacteristic to you.

KING: I need you both the come to the apartment right now. Please.

RM: (y/n), what the hell? It's night already

V: I'll be there

RM: Ugh fine.

King: Thanks guys, I'll explain when you get here

Jungkook entered the living room without so much as a glance to you. "I've contacted my people. They'll be here soon."

You nodded, "I did as well." You didn't like this odd formality between the two of you. The words from you both were cold and unfeeling. He had always been so kind and open, so pure and honest. But you could tell that he was treading carefully now as he sorted out how he felt.

A few minutes later, the people arrived one by one. First was V, who casually waltzed in and lounged on the couch. He ignored both Yoongi's unconscious body and Jungkook's stare as he started small talk with you.

Next was Jimin. The moment he walked in, it was obvious that Jungkook had warned him about you. His eyes were sharp as he looked you up and down, examining you inch by inch. You did your best to ignore it and focus on V.

Then came RM, who acted similarly to V. He walked in confidently, not sparing a moment to display his coolness under pressure.

Hoseok and Seokjin came in together, both looking mildly confused.

Once everyone was all together, Jungkook sat by his friends and gestured towards you with a challenging look. "Go ahead. Tell them your plan." 

You stood, unsure of how to begin. With a deep breath, you walked in front of everyone.

"I know this may seem strange to all of you. We are two groups that rarely mix. But I've discovered that the Brass Violets Gang is targeting Jungkook," The policemen looked up. "And now they're targeting me as well." The hitmen looked up. 

"I think I know how we can take them down. We've taken down a gang before," You gestured to your friends, " We just need your help. And in return," You sucked in a nervous breath, "We'd like to be pardoned."

The policemen looked at one another and then back to you. Jimin laughed, not even considering it. Jin stared at you with narrow eyes before speaking. 

"I think it's a good idea." Hoseok and Jimin looked at him in surprise. "The Brass Violets Gang is dangerous to the people, it's our duty to help take them down. And if these people were to help, we'd have to repay them somehow."

"What if I don't want to be pardoned?" V's voice rung out, quiet but distinct. 

"Why wouldn't you?" You asked him, half knowing the answer.

"I like my life. I like the adventure, and I like the money. Why would I give that up?" 

For the first time since arriving, RM spoke. "Because you're a good person, Taehyung." Their eyes met and they looked at one another genuinely. "Adventure and money can be found other places. You know that we didn't choose this path, we were thrown into it. This is our way out." 

After a moment, V nodded. 

"It's possible to have those things," Jin spoke again, looking at V with honest eyes, "I have both adventure and money in my career."

V scoffed. "Well I don't think I'll become a policeman." Everyone laughed, releasing some of the tension in the room.

"Whatever happens later, the reason we're here is to save Jungkook and take down the gang." People on both sides nodded in agreement. Despite everyone's differences, that was one thing you could all agree on.
