I laughed lightly as I folded another unicorn. A group of children were gathered around me, pulling me in several different directions.
"I want a pony!"
"I wanna dog!"
"Can you make me a bunny?"
"Dragon!"
"Now hold on, I can only fold so fast okay? But there is a stall that sells all sorts of animals." I gently led the children to the left.
For come reason they had latched onto to me early this morning and hadn't let me alone.
"Let's go!" Several of the children shouted.
I sighed as I was dragged away.
"Enjoying yourself?" Tohru asked as she happily sold the children the paper animals. Kyo muttered as he handled the money.
"Oh I'm just peachy." I flashed a half sarcastic smile.
She laughed. "I'd thought you made too many but I'm starting to think you didn't make enough." She admitted.
"Damn kids!" Kyo exclaimed.
"Language child." I insisted. "I'm going to go buy myself some ice cream, then I'm going to go find someplace to leave these little ones."
"Have fun!"
"You too!" I waved as I left.
I quickly found an icecream stand and purchased myself a single scoop vanilla, I then retreated to find a table and sat down on it as the children gathered on the seats and ground.
"You seem to be popular with the children."
I blinked and turned to find Yuki. He was leaning against a tree, looking amused.
"Oh haha." I stuck my tongue out to taste my ice cream.
"Seriously, how'd you get a group this large?" He smiled as he picked his way through the kids to stand in front of me.
I shrugged. "I have no idea. I was just walking around. And now there's so many!"
Yuki laughed lightly.
I glared at him. "A true prince would help me." I hinted.
He crossed his arms, "how do you suggest I help?"
Just then the children started chanting.
"Save the princess! Save the princess! Save the princess!"
I let my head drop onto Yuki's shoulder to show my defeat. Yuki visibly stiffened.
"Please?"
"Well, I...I guess I can try- I can try."
"How?" The children gathered around him curiously, completely unaware it was them I needed saving from.
Yuki turned and knelt so he was eye level with them. He closed his eyes with a smile and held up a finger.
"There's a dragon masquerading as a human!" He told them.
"What's he look like?" A boy balled his hands excitedly while stars shined in the children's eyes.
"Here, a picture of him. Now don't hug him, or he'll turn into a ferocious dragon, but if you ask him, the dragon will be forced to buy you ice cream!"
"Yay!"
"But what about the princess?" A girl grabbed my hand. I winked as her while eating my icecream.
"I'll hide her away where the dragon can't find her." Yuki assured her.
"Yep! The prince will keep me safe as long as you all do your job!" I added.
"Okay!" The children excitedly ran off.
I sighed. "Thank you Yuki."
"But my job isn't done, I promised I would hide the princess away."
I blinked at Yuki, he had a glint in his eye.
"Huh."
Yuki wordlessly grabbed my hand and pulled me off the table.
"Hey!"
I focused on not dropping my ice cream.
"Come on now..."
I froze as his breath tickled my ear. I felt his warmth very close, but not close enough to actually be touching.
"...Princess."
My eyes widened and my cheeks flamed.
"H-hey! That's-" I looked up sharply and froze. Yuki's face was only inches from mine.
"What wrong princess?"
"Nothing!" I blurted as I lowered my head instantly. I felt Yuki shake with laughter.
He interlaced our fingers and pulled me somewhere.
"Where-where are, are we, we going?" I stammered nervously.
"Someplace away from the dragon."
"Who is the dragon?" I asked curiously as we made our way behind booths.
"Shigurae."
I laughed. "That's horrible."
"He should stop teasing me then." Yuki replied.
I narrowed my eyes slightly, "what does he tease you about?"
"Nothing important." Yuki glanced around the corner and decided the coast was clear. He ran into the school with me in tow.
I breathlessly ran after him, I had already dropped my icecream.
"I thought school was locked up!" I exclaimed as we ran through the empty halls.
"The janitor is cleaning." Yuki informed me as we ran.
I covered my mouth as I coughed slightly.
"Ah... are you feeling well?" Yuki suddenly pulled to a stop. I almost crashed into him but stopped on time. I coughed for another few seconds before the fit subsided.
"I'm fine. I just..." I waved my hand as I coughed again.
"I hurt myself last night and I've been coughing ever since."
"What did you do that was so bad you cough?" Yuki asked as he gently led me to a water fountain.
I shook my head and finished coughing.
"I ran into a railing."
Yuki watched me carefully as I sipped water.
"You." His voice was thick with disbelief. "I've never actually seen you trip." He realized.
I redirected my gaze to the fair outside. We were on the second floor.
"Must be luck." I shrugged as I leaned against the window and tilted my head to keep my view of the fair.
"So you say. But I don't think you have ever been clumsy."
I turned my gaze to him and laughed. "That's sweet of you to say."
Yuki walked towards me. I kept my smile in place as he placed one hand on the wall behind me.
"How are you clumsy, but only when people aren't around?"
I shrugged. "I'm just unlucky that way."
Yuki sighed. "Just...show me where you're hurt." He relented.
I laughed. "So the prince is actually a pervert!"
"I didn't mean it like that!"
I laughed softly. "It's just right here." I ran my fingers over my shirt, right below my chest. "It's a nice straight bruise. Although my side could look better." I shrugged.
"Your side?"
I touched the side of my stomach, "after I hit the railing I fell down the stairs. I landed on a stupid glass."
"What?! Show me!"
I grinned, "relax Prince, I've already wrapped it."
"How the hell did you run into a banister and then fall down the stairs?" He demanded.
I shrugged as I remembered what happened. Luckily I had already thought of what to say.
"Well I tripped on a can and rammed into the railing, part a. Then I stumbled back like an idiot and...."
Yuki was giving me a look. I averted my gaze to the ground and finished quickly.
"And then I tripped down the stairs."
I didn't meet Yuki's eyes as I fell silent. I was afraid to look at him when he was staring at me like that.
"You ran into a railing, which gave you a mark. Then, stumbling backwards, you fell down the stairs."
I nodded.
"Either your house only has railings obviously one set of stairs, or you're lying to me."
"Houses are weird sometimes." I muttered.
"Mitsumi..."
I grinned at him. "Why would I lie? What else could've happened?"
Yuki narrowed his eyes. He grabbed my hand and pulled me off the wall before leading me somewhere.
"Wha- hey prince charming that's rude." I informed him.
"We're going to your place."
"Huh? Why??" I tried to tug my hand away but he was stronger.
"I want to see if your house is as weird as you away it is."
"Hey, wouldn't that be considered trespassing?"
"You're with me. Your home." He replied coldly.
"Yeah but..."
"Give me a solid reason not to go." Yuki spun to stare at me.
Even with my 2 inch heels I was still short enough for him to successfully rest his hand on my lower back and hold my chin. I lost my breath as he tilted my face up. His face was stern.
"Just one reason." He whispered softly.
I openedy mouth but nothing came out.
"I didnt think so." He turned after a second and we kept walking.
I only regained my concentration much later when we were right outside my gate.
"We left the children at the fair!" I blurted. Yuki stopped to look at me questioningly. "What if one f them hugs that man? We should go call them off." I insisted.
Yuki smirked. "But we're already here. He can take care of himself. Or is it that you dont want me to see your home?"
"It isn't clean." I jerked away. "I haven't gotten around to cleaning it."
"Mitsumi, I spent quite a while living in filth, I'm not the clearest person and neither is Shigurae. So a mess won't bother me."
I lowered my head as he opened my front door and we walked in. He glanced around.
I stared at the carpeted floor.
"Upstairs is where you would've been correct?"
I nodded wordlessly and he walked upstairs, still holding my hand.
Once we reached the top Yuki made a show of looking around.
"I don't see a second stairway. Would you mind demonstrating what happened?"
I sighed and leaned against the wall.
"You win Yuki. You want a prize?" I asked sarcastically.
"Actually..."
