Isabella's POV:
I refused to talk to Megan. I know she was sorry and I know it scared her but I couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal.
Adrian had told her to just give me time which was funny considering I wasn't even sure we had that.
I sat with my dad in the living room, I had told him everything that's happened so far and expressed my feelings to him.
Adrian sat in the kitchen, giving us our privacy.
"I wish I could do more to protect you." My dad said, his voice cracking.
"It's not your fault, dad. Besides I'm still here and you've always been there when I needed you." I assured,
"I wish your mother was here." He confessed,
Memories of her came to mind as I closed my eyes, feeling tears form.
"Me too...but we have each other, dad. We'll be okay." I told him before there was a knock at the door.
I looked back at Adrian who glanced at me confused.
"Are you expecting someone?" He asked,
I shook my head and stood up, heading for the front door. Adrian quickly followed me and grabbed my hand when I reached for the knob.
I looked at him, furrowing my eyebrows but he quickly put his index finger to his lips. Signaling me to be quiet.
"Who is it?" He called,
We anxiously waited for an answer and when we did, we sighed of relief.
"We brought Isabella's favorite kind of pizza." Derek said through the door,
I opened it and invited them in, they all sat at the table as I grabbed paper plates.
"Any calls?" Angie asked,
"No, but I'm sure one will find it's way to my phone soon." I told her, sitting next to Adrian.
"Let's not think about that right now. Let's just eat this pizza and be glad." Marcus said,
Everyone agreed as we each grabbed a slice.
"If Matt was here, he'd probably make up some kind of weird pick up line." Derek said, smiling at the thought.
A genuine smile came to my face too. He was right.
"He'd hog this whole pizza too." Adrian added,
Angie laughed and put her hand over her mouth before talking.
"Remember when you and him were arguing over the last slice of pizza at pizza hut? You bit it and he got so mad that he grabbed it from you at chucked it out the window." She laughed,
My eyes widened as Adrian nodded and laughed with her.
"He did that?" I asked,
They all nodded and I giggled at the thought of Matt doing that. It definitely sounded like him.
"What about the time he..." Marcus started,
But my ears trailed off, I watched as they all smiled and shared precious memories. It made me genuinely happy to see them smile and laugh.
Even me, it was the best I've felt for awhile. We were having a break from the sadness. A break we so rightly deserved.
We all finished the pizza before watching a movie in my living room. This night was exactly what we needed and I appreciated it more than they'll ever know.
