HIS UNBLINKING STARE TICKLES MY HEART

I stared at the people standing behind our door with fixed mischievous grin. I looked at Aariz, who gave me shrug 'told you'

There were almost 7 persons, smiling brightly and I looked down embarras for no reason.

"We came to call you both, phupha jan is calling." one of his cousin said. She was thin. Light brown eyes with same attractive hair.

I smiled gesturing them to come. We climbed down the stairs with girls whispering behind us. In their big Lounge, all the people were sitting looking beatific.

Ladies were having their morning gossips for the today function while gents were sipping their freshly made hot coffee-tea, newspaper with some political problems. And cousins had made there own little company at the corner.

After entering together we greeted everyone and all the attention diverted to us, as a set smile broke onto their faces. I blushed nervously, as I was new and didn't knows half of the faces.

His dado (grandmother) and dada abu (grandfather) sitting in the middle. They happily called us and we sat with them. "Assalam-o-Alaikum " i greeted both of them respectfully and they replied. Dado caress my head delighted.

"My son didn't tease you much?" she said with double meaning.

I glance his way; smiling on something dada abu whispered to him, looking extremely handsome. I felt proud on my husband 'my man got the looks'

I shook my head in negative as blood instantly rushed to my cheeks. She laughed and peck on my cheek. "Masha Allah, may Allah makes your bond stronger. "

'Ameen' i replied in my heart.

"So what is our daughter making in sweet today?" we heard dada abu saying after some time, everyone looked at him and then me.

I gulped, " Whatever you say" i smiled shyly. I don't know why I was getting so confuse, nervous, and my heart stopped whenever someone asked me something.

"Bhabi Kheer" Fatima grinned standing behind her mother.

"No Custard... " Mom said.

"Sheer khurma. " Sajal

"...Suji ka halwa"

"Firni! "

(Above all are the most famous desi known desserts)

Its a ritual in asian families that the bride makes dessert at her first day in sasural (in-laws house) as all the family taste it after the grand family lunch.
And another ritual, bride's parents brings breakfast the very other day for all in laws. So, the bride feels comfortable and the breakfast goes happily with two families.

"Stop stop everyone; let Aariz decide it." dada abu put an end, declining all of there choices.

He looked at me and I waited for him to speak up and he did, "..Kheer.." a loud applause was heard indicating everyone's fine with it.
