I was standing alone in the hall way when Joe walked unsteadily down the stairs.
"What were you doing up there?" I asked him.
"That's for me too know and you to wonder." He said with a wink. Gross.
"What's up?" He asked me. Joe was completely drunk, but I just wanted to offload some stress so I ranted about Kylie and Dylan.
"Why would you date him anyway, Blue Sky? You can do better than him." Joe took a slow step towards me. I backed up against the cream wall behind me.
"Don't, Joe. Oh God. I shouldn't have said anything. Look, Joe just leave me alone. This was a mistake." Joe took another step, this time I could smell the beer on his breathe. He placed a hand against the wall beside my head.
"Come on, Sky. I know we've had the odd fall out but you can't say we don't have a good history." He said in a deep husky tone. He moved his other hand to the wall too, so I wasn't going anywhere. He started leaning in to me.
"Dylan!" I screeched. Joe rolled his eyes.
The living room door swung open and Dylan and a few other people rushed out. I spotted Rosa among them. Dylan's expression turned from worry to fury and shoved Joe. Joe lost footing and hit the floor.
"Don't you dare touch her again!" Dylan screamed. Rosa pulled me out of the way. Joe got up from the floor and swung at Dylan. I gasped along with everybody else and tried to get to Dylan but before I could he had punched Joe in the eye. Ella came out from the kitchen.
"What the hell? Jesus, I'd should have known. Joe get out of my house. Now." Ella said.
"Happily." he muttered rubbing his eye. Once the door had slammed I pushed through everyone. Dylan's lip had split.
"El, get me some tissues and ice. Oh, God, this has gone too far. You poor thing." I held my hand to Dylan's face and rubbed his cheek with my thumb. He gave me a weak smile and held me close.
"It's fine. That's the last of it." He said. But it wasn't. It really wasn't.
