"This is a nice change." I remarked looking down at Sky's heels which allowed us to stand together without her straining to reach up to me.
"And of course you ruin a nice moment by joking about my size again. What an amazing boyfriend you are." She scowled playfully. Sky wasn't wearing the type of clothes she usually wore out. Not that I was complaining. Her dress was fitted black. I'm a guy after all. I picked up off her feet and spun her while she lay in my arms squealing. When I turned for about the third time, I stopped dead in my tracks at the kitchen door. Sky's friend Emily Johnson stood looking ruthless with a hand on her hip and the other against the door frame.
"And this is what you guys call prepping the party food? Because I don't think that was what El had in mind." She said. Emily had always been intimidating, even in primary school. She could control even the rowdiest of boys in our year with a cold glare. Emily was the type if girl you'd imagine being an editor of some massive magazine in her future. The type of girl who drank black coffee.
"Lighten up, Em. We were just taking a break." Sky offered an apologetic smile. Emily tutted, turned on her heels and went back upstairs.
"I wouldn't have thought Dylan Smith would be my rebellious influence." Sky grinned.
"I'm tall, dark and mysterious." I replied and kissed her hand.
"Okay as much as I'm loving this banter, we should actually get started because I don't want to be told off by Miss. Johnson again." Sky smiled and chucked me a bag of cheese puffs. I continued smiling to myself and poured them into a bowl. This was out it should have been all along. Just me and Sky.
