I groaned and rubbed my eyes as I began to sit up. Suddenly last night's crazy events came flooding back to me and I groaned again. I looked across to the armchair, where Dylan was sitting, his expression impossible to read.
"Morning, Dyl. How's your lip?" I questioned him and I pulled the red blanket that was draped over my legs around by shoulders. Dylan raised his gaze to mine.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
"Joe. Joe's dead." He spoke quietly.
"Dylan, don't be angry about Joe. We don't need another fight. I'm okay and Joe probably won't bother us anymore. He's not worth your temper." I told him. The last thing I wanted was either of them getting hurt again.
"Joe won't be bothering us anymore, Sky, because he's been killed. He drove while drunk. He is literally dead." He said frankly. I gaped at him. I was too shocked to cry or anything.
"How do you know?"
"Because two police officers came over while you were asleep. They gave me the news." Dylan told me.
"Dylan, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" I asked.
"I just don't know, Sky. I have no idea what I'm feeling. It's like I'm just emotionless." He said, his voice still hushed.
"Well, what now?" I asked.
"I'm going to have to call my Mum. I'm not going to tell her over the phone but I'll tell her she needs to come home as soon as possible." I walked over to Dylan and sat on his lap. He leant back in the chair, his arms tight around my curled up body. He said nothing and kissed my cheek.
