As Claire looked through the portal, she saw the living room of the Glass House. Everything was the same as it was when she'd left. The only thing that was different was...

"No..NO! Myrnin...why? Why would you show me that?" she screamed as the portal snapped shut.

Myrnin looked down at her with sympathy, "Oh, little Claire. I never wished to hurt you like this, but I assure you, It would have hurt you more if you were to find out later rather than sooner." he spoke softly to her, knowing that she was heartbroken.

The tears built up in her eyes and even as she tried to blink them all away, she couldn't stop them from breaking free and sliding down her cheeks. She felt faint, and angry, and...heartbroken.

Shane, her own boyfriend was sat in the living room kissing and touching another girl. Another girl that wasn't Claire. The part she found worse, despite the fact that Shane was practically cheating on her, was that the other girl was Eve!

She wanted to run. Run so far away from them until her legs couldn't carry her any more. She hated it. She hated everything . She hated him. She hated her!

"Claire.." Myrnin whispered to her, placing a hand on her left shoulder, "please, talk to me?"

"I-I don't...know what to say...I just-I thought he loved me..." the tears still crawling down her face, she tried to stop them, but when she did, she just broke down into more and more tears. She fell to her knees and Myrnin crouched down next to her.

"Oh, Claire. If your human boyfriend," he said bitterly, "wants to be kissing your 'best friend', then he is oblivious to what he has in front of him. He will never deserve a girl like you, and everyone with or without a pulse knows that."

She looked up to him through tear-blurred eyes, and she saw something in his eyes...something she'd never seen before, and that confused her. She had seen many things in her boss' eyes..like the many amounts of crazy. and unpredictable behavior. Even hunger. That was when he had bitten her from Ada's fault of her own. Ada had tried to kill Claire, and to do so, hurting Myrnin was compulsory.

But this look, it was a thousand times more different, and even more difficult to read. It had taken a while to recognize the other looks he had in his eyes, when they had been fatal.

"Thank you, Myrnin. But-I-I love him. Why...why would he do this to me?" she managed to say in between the sobs that she released.

"Because even though he has a heart, he doesn't." He answered.

"What? Myrnin...that doesn't really make sense!" she managed to giggle softly at the end of the sentence. Just as Myrnin put his head closer to hers.

"Does that really matter, young Claire?" he whispered, so quiet that her brain had to put more effort into deciding he'd actually spoke. His head was unbelievably close to hers now. She knew what he was going to do. He was going to kiss her. But she wasn't exactly sure if she wanted to.

He was Myrnin, crazy, completely random, psychotic Myrnin. And worse of all, he was her boss! She couldn't kiss him. She just physically couldn't. It would be awkward, and strange, and just utterly wrong.

"I-Myrn-" he cut her off as his lips brushed hers. He was so quick that she didn't even realize until they were seconds into the kiss. A few more seconds later when Claire's head had processed the current event, and she pulled away. "Myrnin...what-what-" eyes wide, she couldn't finish what she was going to say. She had a lot to say matter-of-factly...about a hundred questions such as why? and do you like me like that? and especially do I like you too?

Less than a minuet back, she was disgusted in the idea of sharing a kiss with him, but now it had actually happened, her brain had turned to mush. She was wrong. So, utterly and completely wrong about that.

You don't even like him like that, Claire. one part of her head told her. then the other past told her Oh yeah? Then why did you kiss him back? Just what she needed.

She looked up at Myrnin who's face was still close, so close to her own. She went with the second half of her brain and she kissed him back. And she didn't stop until minuets afterwards, when her brain finally registered that humans in fact, need to breath.

When she pulled back slightly, only just disconnecting their lips from each other, she noticed that

Myrnin was layed on his back, and she was resting on top of her. Did i do this? she thought to herself, but she didn't care. Not anymore. Because something finally clicked in her head. She had stopped crying, and she felt so warm and fuzzy inside, then she stated the obvious to herself, don't stand up, you'll just fall back down. You know what happens to your knees when this sort of stuff happens these days. That, she thought, was completely 100% true. That kind of stuff had always happened in these scenarios.

Shane was off her mind completely, thanks to Myrnin making her finally realise who she actually wanted to be with. She loved Myrnin. She loved everything from his wacky dress sense, to his dangerous, and kind of hot side. So they carried on, and on, and on.

Looking at the new clock on the wall, she noticed the time.9pm. It's was already getting dark outsdie, now that winter was on its way to throw out all the summer glory and beautiful sunny weather. I need to go home at some point tonight. You know you do. Should I stay? Or should I go? her mind was debating for a few seconds before she turned to Myrnin.

"Sorry to ask, but could you take me home please?" she looked up at him through her eye lashes.

"Of course I can, Claire. Are you sure you can stand to see him when you get back?" he said with disgust. " If not, you are more than welcome to spend the night here. It is not like I sleep around here, you know?" he offered sweetly.

"I should be fine...thank you for offering." she responded gratefully.

The drive wasn't at all awkward between the two of them as they drove around Morganville towards the Glass House, even with the scene that occurred in the lab. Claire felt a lot happier. More energetic.

"There you go, Claire. Safe at home" he smirked. "If you change your mind about my offer, send me a message thingy through that strange communication device you hold with you at all times. Those things are useful in these situations..not like I'd know that well."

He gave a her a quick smile. all teeth, no fangs, and waved her off as she thanked him for the offer, and that she would definitely take it up if things got a little chaotic when she walked through the door.
