Walking into the glass house, despite what she knew about him and her.
Claire walking past the living room whilst texting Myrnin saying, "I might just have to agree to that offer, you know x" she smiled down at the phone whilst she pressed 'send', and walked straight into the kitchen, not looking up at any of her three housemates, but Michael, being Michael, and a vampire, seemed to notice something and followed her.
"Hey, you just walked past us? Where have you been?" he said, a hint of concern in his voice towards her.
Claire pocketed her cellphone "I was helping Myrnin with something. Sorry if I worried you, Michael." she looked down at her cell again, trying to act as sympathetic as she could.
"It's okay, next time, just leave a note before you come back so late. You know how worried we all get." he looked down and smiled.
"I have a cell phone for a reason, you could have just called me, idiot" she giggled to him.
He gave her that Michael Glass Hollywood smile again before turning to walk out the door, back into the living room with Shane and Eve. She felt sick just thinking of their names, never mind the fact that they were in the next room. "There's my little Claire," his said and his smile turned into a grin, then he opened the door and she suddenly, she was alone.
She grabbed some of the chilli dogs, thanks to Shane, and a cold can of Coke and headed into the living room, to act like she didn't know a thing. Michael obviously didn't know either. How could he be in such a good mood if he did? Me and Michael are in the same boat. she though to herself as she stopped at the door. Only you know already, you're the lucky one here. But was she? Would she really rather have known now rather than later?
C'mon, Claire. You know Myrnin's right. better to know now than to never know at all. Look alive, sunshine. Act like you don't know a thing. And she did, walking through the door with a smile on her face to sit in between Shane and Eve.
"Hey," Shane said and nudged her with his elbow. "Where you been?"
"The lab, with Myrnin. We're working on something." she responded with a straight face, staring right at the tv. They had a movie on. Something about zombies, a dumb blonde, and a smart brunette that makes it out alive. Your'e the smart one. her mind told her.
"You know, I'm not too trilled that you spend so much time with him, and not me." he said, smirking down at her. She looked up at him, her face set hard.
He did not just say that. How could Shane even think about pulling out the 'I think you're cheating on me' card. Even though she had, He didn't know. But she knew all about his kind of fun with her best friend whilst she was still sleeping, then again once she was out of the house.
She saw Eve give him a death stare in the corner of her eye, her face towards the tv again, not paying much attention at all.
"Yeah?" she said, a hint of bitterness behind it. Claire gritted her teeth, then bit her tongue so she didn't immediately accuse him of being so contradicting. "You know I wouldn't do that, Shane"
"That's my girl," he said and took her face in one hand. He turned it to kiss her lips, but just as his were about to reach her own, she turned her head so his soft warm lips caught her cheek instead.
Don't even try it. That's like kissing Eve. I'm not gay. all the frustration burst out silently. Shane looked at her with a confused, guilty eyes. Great acting, Shane. Too bad I'll never trust you.
Once Claire had finished her dinner, she stood and took her plate and empty can into the kitchen. It was her turn to do the dishes tonight, and she told Eve that she'd do them alone. She didn't want to see her. Or him. All she wanted to do, was be alone. Or with Myrnin. She knew that Myrnin would never hurt her like that.
Claire finished putting the last few dishes away, when she heard something outside. She went over to the window that pointed to the back garden of the Glass House, and she saw something flash into the bushes and up the big oak tree. She knew what it was. Or better yet, who it was.
She grinned to herself, threw the dish towel on the counter and jogged upstairs to her bedroom. As Claire walked into her room, she saw a dark figure sat on her bed. Flipping the light switch, and closing the door, her back to the figure, she turned to see that wasn't greeted by Myrnin. She was greeted by Michael.
"Um, Michael....what are you doing climbing into the bedroom through the window? We have stairs, you know. Or are you testing out your climbing technique?" she joked.
Michael gave her a little laugh and another drop-dead-gorgeous smile. "Yeah, I know, Claire. I just want to know if you're okay? You seem a little...off." he reassured her by walking over and putting his hands on her shoulders, arms length apart. "You'd tell me, right? If there was something bothering you? You know you can always talk to me. You're like my little sister." he smiled apologetically down to her. His height towering over her, almost. His blonde curling hair, just resting above his shoulders. God, he was just so beautiful.
"Yeah, I know. Thanks, but honestly Michael, nothing is wrong with me. I'm fine, see?" she said and tilted her head to the side to show no signs of fang marks. Only the ones that Myrnin and one of Bishop's disciples had given her. "besides, why did you decide to climb up the tree and in through my window? That's creepy, alright?" she laughed slightly, trying to keep her 'look alive, sunshine, don't let them know what's bothering you' look on.
"Um, yeah, About that..you see, Eve doesn't like how I talk to you most of the time, you know, about my problems, about your problems. She spoke with me this morning about it. She's getting kind of jealous." Michael tried for a smile, but it just looked so broken. He couldn't believe the girl of his dreams had practically accused him of cheating, just like Shane always had done with Claire, whenever she spent time at the lab instead of with him.
"Her too? Shane's the same, although, he always has been." she shrugged at him.
"It's worrying me more than anything. I can handle being accused of a lot of things. But Eve and Shane, accusing us both. Accusing us both of cheating on them, makes me feel sick." he finished. Yeah, she thought so too.
"Maybe they're accusing us because they're actually the one's who're guilty. With something to hide." she finished.
That, got her a very concerned look from Michael. She noticed his whole body tense up. It felt like his eyes were burning holes into her own.
He took a deep breath, let it out, and sat on the edge of her bed. "Claire. We need to talk. You need to talk. Right now." he said, Never once taking his eyes off hers. She could see the worry and heartbreak in his eyes. But she wanted to tell him. Needed to hell him. Had to. It was compulsory.
