"So who should I go to know what Esmeralda likes?" I asked myself quietly before falling asleep.

The Next Morning

Mila's POV

I yawned and stretched, turning my head to come face to face with Esmeralda.

"Hey Esme, good morning... AND WHY ARE YOU SO CLOSE?" I woke up instantly, my black hair nearly whacking her in the face. She was smiling slightly.

"I need help." She looked away from my questioning eyes, light pink dusting across her face.

"Is it that guy you were staring at yesterday?" I smirked. Her eyes snapped back to mine.

"No!" I raised my eyebrow, "Okay maybe. What should I do?"

"Do nothing. Just be yourself." I turned away, grabbing a sweatshirt.

"Thanks, very helpful." She said sarcastically. I chuckled.

"Esme, you literally slapped him AND crushed him at volleyball in one day. You're perfect just how you are and if he's the right guy, then he'll see that. It's not worth loosing yourself for. Now get dressed, we gotta go eat." I pulled some shorts on. She smiled.

"Where'd you get that wisdom?" She asked as she got off the floor and went to her station.

"It runs in my family. Quite literally, Great nana, Nana, and Mom got told the same speech," I laughed, linking my arm in hers when we were done getting ready, "Go time?"

"Go time." She nodded and we were off. On the way, Ella and Aliza joined us. I could tell they just came back from swimming because Aliza's freckles were popping out.

"Swimming this early in the morning? That's not good for you, the water's freezing right now." I told them. Aliza's usual smile was erased.

"No... Ted and D-dan pushed us in." She started to cry. I could sense Esmeralda's fury.

"They did what?" She practically growled, walking off to tell them off no doubt. I quickly grabbed her arm and shook my head. At this she grumbled and stood still, digging her nails in her palms.

"To be fair, they were just trying to get to the pancakes before the other. Ted looked backwards at Dan and accidentally bumped us into the lake." Ella finished explaining as we reached the Mess Hall. Aliza started shivering and shaking. I quickly gave her my sweatshirt. She mumbled a quick thanks before heading to the buffett.

"Go snatch a spot to sit, I'll get the food." I told Esmeralda. She sighed, but nodded and went to the tables.

While in line, I noticed a guy muttering "How should I go about it?"

I decided to join in, "Put the bacon and sausage on one side, a piece of toast in the middle, and the fruit on the other side. You're welcome."

He chuckled and turned to face me. HOLY SHIT IT'S THE DUDE! WHERE'S  ESME?!?!??? "Thanks, but that's not my issue right now."

I quirked an eyebrow, this pikeing my interest, "Oh? Then what's up?"

"Can't tell you, I don't know if I could trust you." He replied, returning his attention to the food. He does have a point... but I wanna know

"I'm not a snitch, don't worry. After all, I wouldn't be best friends with Esmeralda if I was untrustworthy." I slid that in there. Surely he must know who Esme is; she spiked the volleyball near his head after all. He froze at the mention of her name.
Got'em.

After that, his ears were red and he didn't talk till the end of the line.

"She's my problem actually." He told me with a pink face before walking off to a table.

Interesting...

I finished up the plate and looked around for Esme. Luckily Ella and Aliza were by her, so it was easy to find them.

"Hey Mila, what took you so long?" Ella asked as I sat down. I chose to only smile on response, saving what I'd learned in my memory.

"Not much... ran into a dude from Cabin 14. He apologized for what Ted did." I lied.

"So no revenge?" Esmeralda asked, almost sounding disappointed.

"No revenge." I answered, attempting to sound just as disappointed.

"Was it Daevd?" Ella asked. I smiled.

"No, it wasn't your brother." I answered, sipping my iced green tea.

"So it must've been Andrew. Cuz there is no way that Noel would ever apologize for anything." Aliza joined in. I stayed quiet.

"It was him, wasn't it?" Esme was discreetly picking at her food. I nodded, acting interested in my food.

"Hey guys!" Sam called out as she and Kelsey, our fellow Cabin 17 members, joined us.

"Hey Sammy!" I raised my head in greeting, "What's the schedule for today?"

"Mostly cabin team exercises, but we'll be swimming first." She stated cheerfully. I nodded and finished eating, taking Esme back to the cabin to change.

"Did he  tell you anything? Wait... did you tell him anything?" She asked as we were walking back.

"Nope." I answered, leaving both of us silent.

When we finally got there, I noticed Noel, Daevd, Ted, and Andrew in the lake.

Perfect.
