CHAPTER TWO

"Can I come in?" Michael said after a brief knock on the door and entering into the office.

"You are in already so no need asking". Wendy replied still concentrating on the pictures on the table.

" I'm sorry I barged in". He noticed the pictures on the table and Wendy concentrating intensely on them. He takes the seat opposite Wendy's after standing for few minutes.

"And I'm sorry for taking a seat before you say so"

"It seems I'm going to stand all through" he added jokingly.

"Pardon my manners, I'm just so in the lost" Wendy said.

"It's all so generic, so don't crack yourself up" he said.

"By the way, I was about to come see you at your office" she said raising her head from the picture.

"For few hours now, I've been stuck with these pictures. It's just so complicated adding to the fact that I am not able to effectively access the recent crime scene as a result of the downpour of the rain."

"So, I would love to hear out your findings" he said.

"Alright, if you insist, I'll tell you. But this isn't why I'm here though" Michael said

Michael arranged five victims pictures horizontally with the different pictures of the crime scene opposite them.

"I noticed all of them have one thing in common except the recent one. The victim do not seem to struggle with the devil. This is because there is no defense wound found in the body of the victim.
Left to my opinion, I believe the killer is related or familiar to the victims." Michael said.

" The killer obviously has a signature" Wendy says more as a sentence.

"Yes, as can be detected here, the index finger of each of his victim is missing" Michael said pointing to each of the pictures.

"But I can't think of any motive for now" he continued. Michael brought out a bubble gum from his pocket and starts chewing it.

" Everybody in this  estate wants this one and as crime profilers, we are expected to present the behavioural profile and investigative strategy to help the police hunt down an UNSUB; that is , the unknown subject." Wendy said.

"About my wife and son incident, I'll relate to you the details"

Michael tells Wendy how he found his wife and son dead after returning from his vacation. He wasn't able to handle the  situation anymore, so, a detective was made to examine the crime scene and take pictures. The reason why Wendy was called over was because Jones felt that the detective work was rather shady or disorganised.

" I think I have a profile already; and that's based on what I've heard from you and seen in these pictures." Wendy said.

" The UNSUB should be strong person, depressed, probably has committed other crimes that was ignored, has an unbalanced relationship with the opposite sex: probably not married or in an abusive relationship with his spouse" she continued.

" He should have an anger issue, really organised and daring"  Michael added

"And the MO should be to gain control" Wendy said.

"MO, that is, the motivation" she said after an incomprehensive look from Michael

"Nice one"

"Sometimes, I wonder why on a whole lot of cases,  a man is usually the serial killer"

"I believe this because men has a higher tetesteron to the woman and is prone to vent his anger to the community or individuals for the wrong he believes had been incurred  by the community.

And the woman does not necessarily goes on to kill but engages in stuffs like drug abuse or any other engagement that may cause harm to herself only.

" But, I think your profile can fit into varieties of criminals ranging from burglars,  murderers and terrorist" Michael concluded.

"Well we'll see about that. By the way, have you heard from Charles?"

"Yeah" Michael said uninterestingly.

"You know, he  just came back from the travel despite the emergency call he received from Jones. I' m sure he'll be at the party. He loves parties," Michael said.

The FBI Agents had been given a three week vacation after unravelling the Scarborough rapist identity. Michael had just gone for a week while handling the current profile of the serial murderer only to go home to his family to find them molested and dead . It was the  day Wendy she returned from her vacation that she received the emergency call to head the investigations.  Michael had only a week break only to discover the death.

" So would you be there" Michael asked.

"I'll definitely be at the cocktail party," she said.

"Lest I forget, congratulations on your new house"

"Yeah thanks, I'll definitely see Peter about that" Wendy answered coldly. The apartment had been given to her as an  incentive or as a " tool to work with" as Peter would say, for the long period of the crime. Wendy feels it's more of a distraction to her and intends to see Peter about it.

"Don't tell me you are planning to tell Peter that" Michael asked rather surprised.

"I won't tell you" she said

" You said you were here for something "she added making it sound like a  question.

" I came to make sure you attend the cocktail party. But you said you would, so no problem about that"

" Oh, I see!"she said.
