WANTED

CHAPTER EIGHT

Michael paced back and forth biting his nail in apprehension. He had a feeling the investigation was going the way it shouldn"t. He had decided to relax knowing that Wendy was the one that had been assigned the Chief investigator of the recent crime. He was sure she wasn't aware that he knows her deepest secret. And that, would he use as a  later ammunition. If he had to threaten her with that, so would he. He had to find Jones now, right now!
Wendy must be stopped.

 

"Long time no see Wendy bae"
Anita said as she as she sees  Wendy approaching the office with Stephanie.

The duo hadn't been in close contact since the cocktail party. Wendy knew that Anita would have concluded that she was probably jealous or still angered about the incident that occurred at the cocktail party.

After the informal meeting with Michael where they dicussed important things regarding the crime, she received a call from Charles. Charles had told her he heared of the cocktail party and would love her to be his date. She agreed without hesitation. It wasn't that she was in love with him, it was just that they were good friends that could do anything for one another, she had told herself.  However,she was disappointed when she realised that he had used her as a backup plan, a substitute date. He flocked around the party with Anita, while Mike kept clutching to her. At the long run, she was pissed off and decided to leave the party. Later on, Charles called her to apologise. She accepted the apology, she had told him that she didn't care who he dated but shouldn't try fooling her next time. But right now, , she thinks he's  found him a new speck; just as how she had been his speck before Dave got jealous. She got resentful as she thought about Dave, her ex-husand. She wasn't aware that her feelings reflected on her face. Anita on the other hand was soaring  on the thought of Wendy getting jealous of her relationship with Charles. How she had thought of ways to get back at Wendy! 
Wendy thought she saw Anita grinning from ear to ear but she ignored it.

The boardroom of the departmental office was a large beautifully decorated one Though the huge room was quite oppressive,Wendy felt it was significant to the huge weight of responsibilities cladded on their shoulders. A round glass table was situated at the middle of the room which was painted white.  A plasma television was placed at the very center of the wall. Michael and Peter was paying so great attention to the program, Big Brother Nigeria. To think that Mike has arranged and called for the meeting,yet viewing this show was a put of for Wendy. But surprisingly, it gladdened her heart.

Michael watched them intently as they entered the room. His mind was rather on his thought than the screen his eyes was fixed on. He knew he had to make sure that all effort is put in place to catch this recent criminal, or else he'll be trapped for a crime he didn't commit.

"Guys, I need to know how much progress we are making on this case"

"We've not been all that communicative" he started  as soon as they were all comfortably sitted on the round table.

"Good evening to you too" came the reply of Anita.

" I'm sorry for skipping the greetings"

"But guys, this business means more than formalities. This is doing what we pledged to do; to the nation, to protect the neighbors, our fellow citizens".
He said using his hands to massage his mustache.

"Thus said the guy who has been so busy to bother about us" Anita chirped chirped in.

"It's okay, Ann.
"It's enough" Stephenie admonished.

"I get your point dude. I get it.
As always, we've always been doing our best and nothing short of it. Infact Wendy has been working so hard lately; and I of course.

"Whatever" Anita snapped.

"Yo! this is not a time to snap at other people's comment. This is more serious than ever because a killer is set loose in Region 106, who will set Gowon Estate free from this devil?Let's not bring sentiments to this at all" Stephenie said rolling her eyes.

"Wendy what have you got" She asked.

"As Mike and I evaluated earlier there is a behavioural pattern. But there seems to be a disparity between the incidences Mike and I evaluated earlier regarding the murder of his wife and son."

"I don't understand, and why is that"Mike asked confused.

"Because I met with Mr. Moore"

What? Michael exclaimed.
"You met with that fake agent" he continued as he made a face.

"And yes, I think I've got a behavioural pattern. It may not be all that perfect but it's something I think we could all work with" Wendy said as she rolls her eyes ignoring Michael's stabbing gaze.

"I spoke with someone and my conclusion about the matter is that the killer is close by. And with some information available to me It can be handled."

"So what behavioural pattern are we working with? Anita asked.

Wendy went on to tell them a detailed analysis of the proposed killer.
"As Michael and I earlier evaluated, the killer would probably be aggressive or extremely caring to a fault, he could be a known person, may be in an abusive relationship or probably divorced, and may have engaged in ang numerous crime which he may have been caught or not."

"And then may probably be a rapist right"? Anita questioned.

"We are not sure about that cause Munachi's and her son death was not a case of rape but the other were.It seems the devil only add murder to his recent crime for specify reasons. For me, I think this case is very related to the just concluded crime  we unravelled"

Really, you think so? Wendy asked bewilderd

"Yes,of course".

"Come take a look"
Stephenie said revealing a picture from her phone

"This people were not killed expertly as a professional murder would do. This is basically amateur" she said

She showed them the pictures of the late murder victims. Their wounds weren't so neately cut. It seemed that the devil was forced to kill them.

"Wow, Step
You are so on point" Anita said as she looked at the pictures.

"I know right" came the reply.

"Why haven't we thought of this before, we could have easily caught the murderer cum rapist a long time ago" Anita minutes.

"Right now we need to think!
Do we have any list of wanted die hard criminals"?

"Nope, we don't"
"We only have petty thieves, street boys" Peter said for the first time since the conversation.
And you know these one million gang sometimes pay tithe to us" he said smirking.

"Will you just zip it" Anita said eyeing him.

"Something is up. Hmmm, I think the murderer has a strong connection with the 411 rapist"

"The 411 rapist?"

"Yes"
"The 411 rapist"
Stephenie said biting her lower lips.
