Sakura woke up to the sun shining seeping through her blinds. Even through the blinds the harmful rays of the sun made her shut her eyes quickly.
She let out a small groan and sat up slowly in her bed. She rubbed her eyes for the fifth time before looking around her room slowly.
Sakura gasped and quickly got out if bed and ran into the bathroom. She quickly threw her clothes on, once done she rushed back into her room.
"I'm going to be late, Tsunade-shisho doesn't like people being late" Sakura murmured to herself and an image in her head popped up if the last time Sakura was late to train. Her face turned blue and she quickly fumbled with her combat boots to put them on.
She flung her bag over her shoulders, while half hopping to door putting her other boot.
Just as Sakura went to leave she realized she forgot to pack something. She ran back into her room over to her nightstand. She grabbed the mist precious possession she had. It was her picture if Team 7 when they were younger. She slipped it in her bag and ran out of her house in a hurry.
Sakura zig zags through villagers. Apologizing for bumping and shoving through them. She can see Konohakagure's Gates in sight. Worse of all Tsunade with her arms crossed tapping her foot impatiently. Sakura gulped loudly and ran even faster.
"S-sorry T-Tsunade-shisho," Sakura said and let out puff of air "I didn't realize what time it was" Sakura apologized.
Tsunade just let out a sigh and shook her head, "Sakura I'm not mad at you being late, even though I hate it when people are late," Tsunade mumbled making Sakura flinch "I'm mad because I had a visitor last night that woke me up, any guesses?" Tsunade asked curiously.
"U-Um no" Sakura tried her best not to stutter.
"I'll give you hint, he's loud and wears an orange jumpsuit any answers?"
"Naruto" Sakura sighed and dropped her head.
"He said he doesn't want you to go on this mission alone," Tsunade said looking in the direction of the path that leaves Konoha "He said-"
"I don't care what he said
Tsunade-shisho," Sakura mumbled cutting Tsunade off; which was a brave move since Tsunade doesn't like to be interrupted "This isn't his decision, it's mine you picked me for this mission which means you believe in me, right?" Sakura asked with confidence.Tsunade nodded, "But may I ask you something, Sakura" Tsunade turned her attention back to Sakura.
"Of course Tsunade-shisho."
Tsunade only asked one word. That word was: 'why'.
Sakura furrowed her eyebrows and she frowned at her question, "I'm sorry Tsunade-shisho but what do you mean why?"
"Well," Tsunade paused to think of a good way to word this "Why leave for this mission you'll be gone for awhile, besides all they want to do is make sure you don't get hurt, they want to...protect you."
Sakura's ears twitched at those words: 'protect you'. That's what everyone has always done since she was younger and she doesn't want to have that same treatment now.
"Tsunade-shisho!" Sakura said firmly, catching her attention "You remember the day I asked you to train me right?" Tsunade nodded.
"That's because I wanted to become stronger, so I can keep up with Naruto and Sasuke-kun, I wanted to be able to fight alongside them not behind them like some damsel in distress!" Sakura furrowed her eyebrows angrily "The day where people wouldn't think I'm useless in battle and they can count on me to have their back when needed, I wanted to be able to fight without anyone having to look over their shoulder to see if I wasn't in trouble, I hate having to be reminded as the weak one in Konoha 11, but by going on this mission I can prove to them I'm not, it's a test of strength and I will pass!"
Tsunade stood there in astonishment. An astonished look soon changed into a smirk and she said, "That's what is expect from my pupil," Tsunade said and patted Sakura on the head "I'm glad you keep encouraging yourself to become stronger, now go show them who's boss!"
"CHA!" Sakura shouted and turned into the direction that head for Sunakagre. She took a deep breath before running but something had stopped her. A firm hand grasped her wrist, stopping her from going anywhere.
"Naruto I told you I'm going on this mission whether-" Sakura turned around to face Naruto but to her surprise it was Kakashi Sensei.
"Hello Sakura-chan," Kakashi greeted her politely "I'm glad I caught you before you deported for Sunakagre."
"But we already said our good byes yesterday," It took Sakura a minute to realize what he was up too "Naruto sent you here to stop me didn't he!" Sakura furrowed her eyebrows and harshly shook his grip off her wrist.
"No, no he didn't," Kakashi put his hands up in defense "But he did come complaining to me yesterday after he couldn't convince Lady Tsunade to keep you from going" He glance over to Tsunade who gave Kakashi an icy glare.
"Then why are you here?" Sakura asked once again.
"I wanted to tell you something before you left, we all don't want you leaving on your mission hating us now do we?" Kakashi raised his eyebrow.
"No, I guess not" Sakura admitted, but her back still turned from both of them.
"Listen to my words carefully Sakura cause you probably won't hear them again for awhile," this made Sakura pay attention even more "The reason they don't won't you to go not because your weak but because of a pain of loss."
Sakura eyes widen and she turned around slowly, "Loss?" Sakura said in confusion "Why would they feel that?"
"Isn't it clear," Kakashi said with a shocked expression, Sakura shook her head in response "What happened two years ago, that tore everyone's heart especially yours?"
"You don't mean" Sakura said trailing off, hoping she was on the same track as Kakashi.
"Yes," Kakashi nodded his head "I'm talking about Sasuke."
Sakura's ears twitched when she heard that name. A name she wished that she could've forgotten but it still rings in her head. She still blames herself to this day that she couldn't help back then to bring him back.
"They've already lost someone dear to them two years ago and they don't want to feel that same pain again" Kakashi said looking straight in Sakura's emerald eyes.
"I-I didn't think of it that way" Sakura said rubbing the side of her arm embarrassingly. She regrets exploding at her friends yesterday.
"But Sakura-chan this is your choice," Kakashi said placing an arm on her shoulder "You decide which path you'd like to take?"
Sakura looked at the path heading back into the village. She then turned back around to the path that left Konoha.
"What if I make the wrong choice Kakashi Sensei" Sakura lowered her voice.
"There's no wrong choice Sakura, you pick which one feels right," Kakashi said and gave her a pat on the shoulder before leaning in and whispering in her ear "I'll always be on your side no matter what, I consider you as a full fledged shinobi so it's you choice."
"Thank you Kakashi-Sensei" Sakura showed a small smile and gave him a gentle hug and turned back around "I think I finally chose the path to take, I can feel it's the right one" Sakura said with confidence and clenched her fist.
