The Half to my Whole

Chapter 9

Jennie's P.O.V

Seoul, South Korea

8:30 P.M

         He leans back and looks at me straight in the eyes, he leans his face closer than before, our lips only centimeters apart, I began to close my eyes, anticipating the kiss.

But it never happened.

Because of the freaking laptop.

We jolt up in surprise, I quickly distance myself from Leo. I turn to look at my laptop to see Lisa calling. Leo cleared his throat and quickly glance at me before answering the call.

"Hey Leo!" Lisa greeted enthusiastically but her eyebrows quickly turn into a frown, "Where's Jennie?" she asks.

I scoot forward, our shoulders touching. I tried to ignore my fast heartbeat and instead focus at the doe eyed girl who was now smiling brightly when she saw me. I gave her my gummy smile, "Hey Lili~" I chimed. 

"Hey Nini!" she greeted back, she once again furrows her eyebrows, "Why are you red?" she asked. 

"I-uh, it's just hot in my room." I lie.

"Didn't you turn the AC on?" she once again asked, "Uh, I turned it off an hour ago because it's too cold, now it's too hot so I just turned it on a moment ago." I answer nonchalantly, managing to hide my nervousness.

"Okay..." she replies, not convinced. She shifts her position to sit more comfortably, "By the way where are the other girls?" I ask, trying to change the topic which gladly worked.

"They're cooking, they'll be here after they finish." she answers, showing us her toothy smile.

"How was the shoot by the way?"

"It was fine, it wasn't too cold nor too hot thankfully." I reply, taking a few strands of my hair that fell down from the bun and put it behind my ear. I can feel a gaze on me that was not from Lisa, I was trying not to feel flustered and just try to ignore his stares. Lisa clearly doesn't notice his brother staring at me because she continued talking enthusiastically, me on the hand was shifting uncomfortably. 

I finally had it and turned to Leo, glaring at him. There is amusement playing on his expression, but I can clearly see a hint of fear on his eyes. I pinch him on his side and he visibly wince in pain, since the camera only covered from the abdomen and up, she could not see me pinching him.

"What's wrong Leo?" Lisa asks.

I look at him knowingly, sending a message to not tell Lisa. Well, Lisa won't get mad just because of me pinching Leo  but instead it would be opposite, she would look at us teasingly  if she's here. I pinch Leo tighter and he groans in pain. Okay, that was hot. 

I quickly shake my head. No Jennie, not hot.

"I-it's noting, my stomach just hurt." he replies.

I let him go and smirk secretly at him, he glares at me and mouthed 'Why'd you do that for!?" 

I just shrug and turned to Lisa, "Did you eat something bad? Go drink some medicine." she orders. She can be this responsible when it comes to her brother huh. 

I smile softly at the two siblings, loving their relationship towards each other. "Yeah I'll take one later since the pain subsided just now." he replies.

 Lisa nods and grins mischievously, "So where did you take out Jennie for lunch Leo?" 

He raises an eyebrow, and looks at me for a second. Well, I share almost everything with the girls. I just shrug, "Come on, it's not a big deal right? I tell the girls almost everything." I say nonchalantly. Well there is some details that I don't want to tell though, and I know Leo won't dare to say it as well. He turns his gaze back at his sister who was now wiggling her eyebrows. 

Leo rolls his eyes, "I just took her to a sushi restaurant Lili."

"Then?" Lisa continued, urging Leo to tell everything. 

"We just talked about nothing important, that's all." Leo deadpan.

  Lisa pouted at his brother, obviously dissatisfied of his answer. She is such a baby, she doesn't act like her age sometimes. No scratch that, it's most of the time.

"Hey guys!" a female voice says, as she emerge from the screen, revealing her identity.

"Hey Chaeng!" I greet cheerfully. She was wearing an oversize shirt and sweatpants, her hair was in a messy bun like mine. She positions the camera for a better angle so that the two of them are in a clear view.

"Where's Jisoo?" I ask.

"Oh she's just finishing the soup, she'll be here after awhile." Chaeng answers, as she takes a bite bite on her apple.

      The night ended without a hitch. After that call, Leo went back to his room. It was slightly awkward because of our previous actions but nevertheless it still was fun talking to the girls and at the same time talking to Leo. I learned a few more things about him, for example he likes dogs more than cats, the opposite of her sister. His favorite food is boiled crab or mud crab and he's taking aeronautical engineering in Thailand. I didn't think he would want to be a pilot someday, I thought he would want to be a singer or a dancer like her sister.

I lay in bed, staring into the ceiling, even though I can't see it because the lights are off. The thought of what happened between me and Leo awhile ago came into my vision and I immediately blush at the thought.

"Urgh, why did I do that!? Why didn't I push him away?" I scold myself frustratingly, as I pound the soft mattress beneath me with my fist.

I closed my eyes, hoping for sleepiness to drown me, which gladly it did.

The next morning I woke up in the wrong side of the bed. I gently massaged my neck and took a shower. We'll have our last photoshoot on the private pool that is in this hotel. 

I quickly got changed into a jean shorts and a white blouse. A knock on the door erupted in the room, I opened it and saw a woman who was smiling at me, "Ms. Kim, the director and Mr. Bruschweiler is waiting for you in the lobby." 

I returned her smile with my own, nodding slightly, " Okay, I'll be there in a minute."

She nods and walks away, I quickly take my sling bag from the bed and went outside the room, towards the elevator.

I was now in the lobby, I immediately spotted the director who was talking on the phone, but no Leo to be seen. I look around for the familiar figure which I saw near the reception table, his back is faced towards me. I walk towards him but quickly stopped when I realized he was hugging a long haired girl. I frowned when I saw him squeeze her tighter, a pang of pain shot my heart at the scene. My hands started to turn into fists, my blood starting to boil.

What the  actual fuck?
