"I am so sorry! For the millionth time I was working on my essay and I accidentally fell asleep!" I say to Ron. "Yes and we waiting outside for three hours before you woke your lazy ass up and remembered us." He says annoyed. After Malfoy and I talked I went back to my room completely forgetting about going to hogsmead. After I finally remembered they were waiting outside and Harry was yelling at an annoyed Ron that I would sure be there any minute.
Once I finally showed up Ron wouldn't talk to me and we ended up not going to the village anyway. It has been a week and I am still apologizing to them for ruining the trip even though it was on my birthday! "Oh Ron give it up." Harry says throwing me a piece of toast which I catch happily and sink my teeth into.
Ron starts arguing with Harry as I drag my eyes across the dining hall. I see Malfoy, he's talking to Blaise Zabini. It's odd, the less time I spend with him the more I think about him. I thought this separation thing would be a lot easier. We were not actually together well because neither of us wanted a real relationship. He couldn't date me anyway. Not just that it wouldn't work, but because it wouldn't be allowed. Not a single person in either of our lives would accept the fact that we are in kahoots much less accept us together.
It would be a relationship built on lies and we couldn't ever be normal not for one second. The luxuries that one is able to present to other people could not be represented in public if Draco Malfoy and I decided to date. It would not be plausible.
"What do you have first?" Asks Harry, shaking me out of my trance. "Oh uh...History of Magic." I say. "You ok?" He asks touching my shoulder. "Yes sorry." I say giving him an apologetic look. "Don't be sorry. I'll see you soon?" Harry asks. "Yeah sure." I say bye to Harry and Ron. And walk to class. In the hallway however, Mcglaggen catches up with me. "Granger!" He says. His foul rude like manner makes me want to gag in his presence.
He's a chump and I can't stand to be around him. "Cormec." I give a small greeting holding my books tighter. "Oh first names, ok Hermione. Headed to Binns class eh?" He says falling into stride next to me. "Why are you next to me?" I ask trying to walk closer to the wall. "I can't walk you to class? I'm just trying to get to know you better." He tries to reach out to touch me, but I round the corner to get away from him.
"What's the matter?" He asks me. "Nothing, I just don't like to be touched by people I don't know." I say. Actually I am not used to being held by anyone other then my family, friends, and Malfoy. Once we get to class. Mcglaggen takes a seat and pulls out the chair next to him for me to sit in but I walk to the very far side of the room and take a seat next to a the wall.
The seat next to me remains empty until about 5 minutes after the class starts and Malfoy comes stumbling in, hair untidy, and eyes glowing grey. He looks distorted, but still wonderfully eye pleasing. I shake my head...I'm not supposed to think that anymore, I remind myself.
He sits in the only empty seat. Next to me. Professor Binns justs nods and goes back to his lesson. "What did I miss?" Says Malfoy, getting his books out noisily paying no attention to his audience. Once they look away I turn to him angrily. "You make it so hard to avoid you! This was your idea you know! And you are making it impossible." I say. "Maybe we were haste with that decision."He says.
I whip to face him, trying to keep quiet. "We had to obliviate someone's memory Malfoy!" I angrily spat. "We weren't careful before." He says. Our pinkies touch under the table. I complete the task and lace our fingers together. His hands are warm and familiar and neither of us try and pull away. We don't speak either. I let out a small sigh and bite my lip. Malfoy gives my hand a slight squeeze to let me know he's not going anywhere. I can't focus on the rest of the lesson. The only thing I can think of is our hands and how they hold each other with certainly.
