Arthur sighed and flopped down on the bed. He had a long, tiring day. He just wanted to take a phat nap.
But there was one problem. He couldn't get to sleep. Arthur rolled around on the bed, trying different sleeping positions.
He huffed and stood up, and marched down to the kitchen. He was in the middle of making himself an angry cup of tea when Alfred walked through the door.
"Hey babe."
Alfred smiled brightly and walked up behind him. Arthur grumbled back a reply.
Alfred frowned.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Babe, I know that something is wro-"
Alfred was cut off as Arthur hissed and held his hand.
"Damnit! Why can't anything go right today!"
Alfred took his boyfriend's hand and ran cold water over it.
"Arthur?"
"What."
"I wanna hear about your day."
Arthur stomped off back upstairs, Alfred following behind. The two sat beside each other on the bed.
Alfred studied the Brit's face. He was obviously pissed off, but he had a hint of sadness to his eyes. H also looked like he was ready to pass out for three months.
Alfred wrapped his arms around his boyfriend's waist.
"Please tell me what happened, I wanna help. I wanna be your hero."
Arthur buried his face into Alfred's chest.
"Well.. when I woke up today, I realized my alarm hadn't gone off, and that I would be late for the meeting today. Then I couldn't find my boots. And I didn't get to eat breakfast."
Alfred slipped his shoes off and leaned back with Arthur on the bed.
"What else happened?"
"That bloody frog got onto me about being late, I had trouble staying awake during the meeting because I didn't get enough sleep last night. Then when the meeting ended, I was going out to my car and slipped and fell in a puddle."
Alfred pulled Arthur closer to him. He had began sniffling, and wanted to comfort him without interrupting.
"When I got home I wanted to message you, but my phone was dead. Then I decided to take a nap, but I couldn't fall asleep. Then I burned my hand on the stupid tea and now we're here."
Arthur had started crying a bit. He felt so overwhelmed. He just wanted to have a good day.
"Sounds like to me you need a song. Your own little song."
"What about a lullaby?"
"Do you want a real one or a made up one?"
"I don't care.. I just want to fall asleep in your arms."
Alfred smiled and took a moment to think. He gasped as he got an idea, and began to sing.
"Dream of a land of things you enjoy,
Like tea and crumpets or a small soldier toy.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath,
Cuz I'm here for you, from life until death.
I know that some days you feel a bit sad,
But I'll be there again to make you feel glad.
I'll love you forever, with all of my heart,
Nothing will ever tear us apart."
Alfred looked down at Arthur and grinned. He was smiling in his sleep."Have sweet dreams, Arthur. I love you forever."
