Annabelle opened her beautiful brown eyes, she was in her bed with a quilt covering her tiny body. Snow was falling from the night sky outside her window. She yawned loudly and sat up.
"Mommy?" She called hoping her mother was awake. "Mommy, I'm thirsty."
No answer.
"Mommy?" Anna called, getting out of bed. "Daddy?"
Still no answer, she walked out of her room and into the hallway. She walked into a room just down the hall from hers, it was a huge room with a huge bed on the opposite wall. But there was nobody in the bed.
"Mommy?" The tiny girl asked. "Daddy? Where are you?"
Burst's eyes shot open, her heart pounding. She sighed in relief.
It was only a dream. She told herself. You're not alone anymore.
Then she felt something stir beside her, making her stiffen in surprise. She slowly turned over and found herself staring into a pair of pale blue eyes.
"Hey cutie." Sprite said, smiling.
"AAUGH!" Burst yelled, pushing him off the bed. "WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING IN MY BED??!!"
"I came in here to tell you dinner is almost ready," he said. "And when I saw you asleep, I couldn't resist."
"GET OUT OF HERE!!!" Burst screamed, pointing to the door.
"Alright, alright! I'm going!" Sprite said, walking out.
Burst sat on the edge of her bed, fuming. Why would he DO that?! She wondered. What was going through his head to make him think I'd be okay with him doing that?! I'm definitely locking my door tonight.
"Oh, wait, that won't work. He can walk through walls." She said aloud. "I guess I'm staying up late tonight...."
She got up and walked out her door and down the stairs. Everyone was already at the table, waiting for her. She took a seat next to Venom and Pic and they all began to eat their dinner, which was spaghetti and meatballs. Burst noticed that Sprite was staring at her with a funny look on his face, she shot him a glare, but his smile just got wider.
"He... did something, didn't he?" Pic whispered to her.
Burst sighed. "Let's just say he thought it would be funny to climb into bed with me while I was taking a nap." She said.
Pic sighed. "Sprite gets like that sometimes." He said. "He did that because... He likes you."
Burst sighed. "That, and he's weird." She said. "I just hope he doesn't do it again."
After they all finished dinner they all went to their rooms. Burst changed into her pajamas, which were navy blue with white stars on them, and got into bed. But she didn't fall asleep, she didn't want Sprite to come in again. She tried not to fall asleep, but she soon grew weary.
Burst glanced at the clock, it was twelve thirty. "Maybe I should just go to bed..." She said, yawning. "He's bound to be asleep by now...."
She lay down and pulled the sheets over her, but as soon as she did, something creaked. She shot up, glancing around to see what had made the noise.
"Enough, Sprite." She said. "I know it's you!"
Then a shadow fell across her bed, she whipped around, but then something was thrown over her eyes so she couldn't see.
"GRIMM! IVORY! PICCOLO!" She screamed. "HELP!"
Then something smashed into her head. She fell over, and was engulfed in darkness.
