Burst walked in the door with a huge smile on her face, she had a lot of fun talking to Jamie, and was eager to hang out with him again. She walked upstairs and saw Pic coming out of his room, she could feel the cold coming off of his hooded sweater.
"Um, Pic?" She asked. "Where were you?"
Pic glanced at her. "I could ask you the same thing." He said.
"Why does it matter where I was?" She asked, slightly annoyed.
Pic pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket, it was the note Jamie had left her.
"Where did you get that?" She asked.
"You can thank Grimm," he said, handing her the note. "I was watching you from the bushes, I saw the way you looked at him."
Pic turned around and began to walk away. "You shouldn't trust Jamie," He said, turning to glance back at her. "He likes to keep secrets."
He walked into his room and slammed the door behind him. So do you. She thought.
She walked into her room and flopped onto her bed, the memory of Jamie by the lake with her replayed in her head over and over until she fell asleep.
The rest of the week was uneventful for Burst, she didn't do very much except for draw on her laptop, ice skate around the hallway with Ivory, beat Venom at checkers, and Sprite tried a few of his tricks on her a few times. But, eventually, next Saturday came.
After dinner, which was steak and some ice cream, she ran upstairs and got her sweater on. She then ran out the door and towards the lake. Suddenly, a twig snapped behind her. She stopped running and whipped around, scanning the trees for what had made the noise, but there was nobody there. She turned around and kept running until she reached the lake. She looked out over the lake, the smooth ice glistened in the light of the half moon. Then something slammed into her side, knocking her to the ground and throwing loose snow into the air. Burst pushed whoever it was off of her and jumped up, ready to fight.
"Surprise!" Jamie said, grinning as he brushed the snow off his jacket.
Burst relaxed a little. "What were you thinking?" She asked, slightly annoyed. "I could've really hurt you!"
Jamie's grin grew wider. "That's what made it fun!" He said. "Nothing is fun without a little danger!"
Burst smiled a little bit. "You wanna do something fun?" She asked.
"Is it dangerous?" Jamie asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Very." She said.
Jamie jumped up. "Well, what are we waiting for?" He asked. "Let's go stir up some trouble!"
Burst took Jamie's hand and they both ran through the snowy forest and to the nearby town. They ran down the road until they came to the town hall, the tallest building in the town.
"Race you to the top!" Burst shouted as she began to climb up the side of the building.
"Now we're talking!" Jamie said and began to climb the other side.
Burst climbed the building with ease due to the fact that there were many grooves in the wall, allowing her to have a good grip on the side. Suddenly, her foot slipped and she was left dangling from the wall. She glanced down, if she fell she would surely break something. She quickly put her foot back on the wall and kept climbing. She reached the top after about ten minutes, only to find that Jamie had beaten her to the top.
"I win!" He said cheerfully.
Burst smiled and he helped her up onto the top. The view from the top was amazing! She could see the entire town!
"Wow!" She said. "This is amazing!"
They stared out at the town for a few more minutes, but then the wind picked up and they had to go down before they froze.
"Do, what's next?" Burst asked, turning to Jamie.
Jamie grinned. "Now we go find some more danger." He said, taking her hand in his.
They ran down the street again, they took a sharp turn into the park and quickly climbed one of the many oak trees.
"So, what're we gonna do?" Burst asked as a twig poked her in the back of the head.
Jamie glanced out at the tree a few feet away from them. "We're going to do some tree parkour." He said.
"We're WHAT?!" She asked.
"Tree jumping." Jamie said. "It's actually not all that hard, watch."
Jamie stood up on the edge of the leafless tree branch he was perched on and jumped to the next tree, quickly grabbing onto a branch and pulling himself up.
"Come on!" He called to her. "I'll catch you if you fall, I promise!"
Burst hesitated, then slowly began to inch her way to the end of the branch. She glanced up at Jamie, he was only a few feet away from her. She leaped off the branch.
"StarBurst!!" Someone shouted in terror.
Burst lost her balance in mid-air and began to fall. Jamie leaped out of the tree and caught her, which sent them both crashing to the ground.
"You okay?" Jamie asked.
Burst nodded. "Thanks for catching me." She said, her heart pounding.
"Burst! Are you alright? What were you thinking?"
Burst looked up to see Pic standing a few feet away from them, Jamie seemed confused to see Pic.
Burst got off of Jamie and brushed the snow off her jacket. "We were only trying to have a little fun." She told him. "We were doing tree parkour."
Pic's eyes widened. "P-parkour?" He asked. "People DIE doing parkour, you even fell when you were trying to jump!"
Burst glared at him. "Only because you startled me!" She countered. "If you hadn't have come out of nowhere I wouldn't have fallen!"
Pic rolled his eyes. "You were falling anyway!" He shouted, making Burst flinch. He had never shouted before, what had gotten into him?
Jamie pushed us away from each other. "Guys, enough." He said. "Don't yell at each other, it was an accident." He turned to Burst. "I... I think we need to go now...." He said, his voice full of regret. "Bye, Burst."
Burst felt disappointed and upset that they had to leave. "Bye Jamie...." She said as he left.
She turned to Pic as hey began to walk back towards the forest. "What did you do that for?!" She shouted. "We were having fun!"
Pic glared at her. "What you were doing was dangerous!" He said. "You could've gotten hurt!"
"That's why we were doing it!" She said. "Nothing is fun without a little danger!"
Pic's pale blue eyes were like icy fire. "I don't want you to be doing that stuff again," he growled. "You understand?"
Burst nodded, slightly intimidated. Pic stormed off into the forest, towards the mansion.
Something's off, Burst thought. Since when did he become so aggressive?
And since when does Pic have blue eyes?
