After a long and frustrating drive home, thanks to traffic that stretched on for miles, Aniya and Aaron finally pulled into the driveway. The delay had worn on Aniya's nerves, but Aaron's upbeat nature and constant chatter had at least softened her annoyance.
When they entered the house, Anthea greeted them with a warm smile.
"Of course, I still have them," she said without hesitation when Aniya asked about her old drawings. Disappearing into her bedroom, she returned moments later carrying a box, its edges worn from years of use. She placed it on the table with care. "I sometimes look through these when I'm feeling nostalgic," she added with a wistful tone.
Aniya didn't reply immediately. Her hands trembled slightly as she opened the box, a mix of curiosity and unease flooding her senses. She rifled through the contents until her fingers stopped on a drawing that sent chills down her spine. "Oh my God," she whispered, pulling it out carefully. Her siblings moved closer to see what had caught her attention. Turning to face them, her eyes wide with disbelief, she stammered, "I know these people!"
Anthea chuckled, brushing off Aniya's reaction with a wave of her hand. "Of course, you do, silly. You spent half your childhood talking about them."
"No, Thea," Aniya said, her voice trembling now. "I know these people. Like, I actually know them in real life."
