We got to Melanie's place about fifteen minutes later. "I don't think breaking through that shield was a good idea," Melanie said. "What will happen when the Alpha finds out?" I shrugged, not really careing what Ash thought. O'kay. Lie. I did care what he thought. But Ash had done something nearly unforgivable, and I was done with his act. "Hey, Mel," I asked. " Can I stay with you till this whole thing blows over? Please?" She looked at me funny. "Why," she asked. I shrugged agian. "I just need some time away from Ash. It is o'kay isn't it?" She nodded and hugged me. "Sure. But I don't think the Alpha will like this." I shook my head. "Screw what he thinks. I don't care how he will take, but he deserves some punishment for what he did." By the time we got Melanies cabin, I was through with talking about Ash. It hurt to talk about him because I really cared about him, and he didn't seem to care for me.

I jumped out of the car, and took a deep breath of fresh air. The air smelled of pine, earth, and freedom. "Come on," Melanie said. "Lets go inside." As we walked inside the cabin, I immediately felt at home. Melanie and I where sitting on the couch when the phone rang. "I'll get it." Melanie got up off the couch. When  she answered a voice came roaring through immediately. "Where is she?!" Uh-oh. It was Ash. Melanie looked at me, a terrified look one her face. "She's here," she started to say but Ash cut her of. "How did she get out? That shield is impossible to pass!" You may think that. I said inwardly, smiling. Then I realized Ash was screaming again. "Just bring he home!" Poor Melanie had the phone away from her ear he was yelling so loud. She looked at me sorrowfully. "Well, you heard what he said," she said. "Let's get you home."

"Can we run there," I asked hopefully. "I really want to shift, and I'll be safe with you there." She nodded. "Go shift in the bathroom. I'll shift in the bedroom." Now it was my turn to nod as I jogged to the guest bathroom. When I can out a chocolate wolf was at the open door. As we ran to the Alpha house, I barked, loving the feeling of the wind in my face. When we reached the house,Ash was on the steps. Telling Melanie she was dismissed, he turned to me. I trotted up the front steps, and into the house with my head high. By the time I was in my room, and had shifted back,Ash was at the door.  "What where you thinking," he asked me. "You could have been badly hurt." I sat up. "Why would you care," I yelled at him. "All you've done is been cruel and distant since I got here. You don't care for me, so why not let me go home to Jake? I'm nothing but a burden to you!" "I…"he started to say,but I cut him off. "Hey why don't you go and sulk in your office? Or is that now to close to me as well?" I shifted, my clothes ripped to shreds. My wolf fought for control, and won. Leaping at Ash, she bit his shoulder. He grabbed her shoulder, and through us across the room. I hit the television across the room. I felt it crack when I slammed into it. I shifted back, pulling my legs as close as possible to my naked body. Ash came over to me. "Just go away," I told him. "I want to be left alone." He took another step toward me. "I said, go away!" I was yelling again, and tears were streaming down my face. He got the blankets of the bed, and wrapped them around me.I stood up,and started to walk, right before I stepped on a very large piece of glass. As I fell to the floor, I hit something hard. Ash. He caught me. It was almost as if he cared.  Then he picked me up and put me on the bed. "I'll be right back," he said. I nodded. As soon ad he was gone I looked at my foot. The glass sparkled in my skin. Breathing deeply I grasped it,and pulled. The pain was so intense I screamed. Then I heard footsteps coming from the hallway. I wondered what trouble I was in now.
