NIGHT HAS fallen over Rome with dark clouds covering the sky. It's supposed to rain, which only extenuates the nerves and risk of tonight's plans more. Pippa is with her grandfather and they are heading into the Pantheon, a great temple for the Roman gods. The building feels different then the touristy-ness of day, Pippa is surprised to be back here at night and allowed in. She feels tiny alongside George and with how the elaborate dome hangs above. Hushed whispers are everywhere as they walk into a private room, one where columns and art are still as graceful as the center room of the Pantheon. Pippa's still in awe from the beauty and grandness of where she was, especially in utter silence with no one around. Men are sitting in this room around a table in an open space; and soon Pippa's eyes land on Santino. He's busy in conversation with Matteo so he doesn't notice her. Which in a way she's glad as a pink dusts her cheek.
"Come let's sit." George pulls his granddaughter to the side where Santino is, but enough of a distance away so there's people blocking her from his sight. She feels her stomach twist as she attempts to look his way and not able to see over multiple large men. It's the first time she's 'seen' him since the night at his penthouse when they spent time on the balcony- she's missed him.
She can hear his recognizable voice; she'd know it anywhere, even when he's speaking in Italian. Pippa desperately wishes he would see her and know she's here as well. The last night she saw him continues to play through her head and it makes her smile like a school girl. Her hands tingle with the missed feeling of his skin against hers; she probably looks like a fool sitting there.
"I don't understand why I'm here." Pippa mumbles under her breath trying to contain herself. Grandfather had given her no information, wouldn't even allow Nana to come along. It's giving Pippa a sinking feeling as she doesn't want to be apart of any business deal.
"Business love. You're my granddaughter, it's important you be here." he responds simply, not in the mood to deal with Pippa's countless questions and jabs.
"What's going to be taking place tonight?"
"Work."
His comment makes Pippa want to roll her eyes in frustration because she's being treated like a child again. Of course she knows this is for work, but she's curious and sick of being left in the dark, "I know that obviously. Why don't we go sit with people we know?"
"Santino you mean?" George chuckles, knowing exactly what, or who, she's shooting for, "fancy him?"
"He's not bad." Pippa frowns crossing her arms. Her chest begins to pound, the last thing she wants is to talk about him to her freaking grandfather.
"Surprised to hear that come from you."
"What? He's nice to me, at least,"
George Adams just chuckles at this, "well I'm glad you like our newest business associate. And I'm just as glad to hear he's making you feel comfortable."
