The next morning, Amelia wakes before Alex does, and lays there in his arms and looks at the ceiling. She looks down at her wrists and sighs quietly, seeing the fresh marks she made last night. She glances over at Alex, seeing him asleep peacefully as she also remembers their time together last night. She looks back up at the ceiling, biting her lip. Alex stirs slightly, tightening his grip on Amelia, mumbling in his sleep.
"Baby.. Please don't.. please don't do it.. please.. we need you here baby.." Amelia looks at him, frowning slightly, realizing he's talking to her in his sleep. "Amelia.. please wake up.. please.."
Alex's Dream
Alex comes home to his apartment from work, hoping to find Amelia in the living room since the kids are with her parents for the night. He doesn't find her in the kitchen or the living room, so he goes to the bedroom, where he finds the door slightly ajar. He walks in slowly, seeing blood drops on the bedroom floor leading to the bathroom.
He walks over to the bathroom door, finding it slightly open. He opens it the rest of the way, finding Amelia on the bathroom floor barely breathing, cut marks going up her wrists. He falls down on the floor, putting her head in his lap, grabbing towels to wrap around her wrists.
"Please wake up, baby. Please Amelia.. please baby.." He says in a quiet voice, gently shaking her, tears forming in his eyes. "We need you here baby.. please wake up.. please.." Amelia stays unconscious in his arms.
"Come on baby.. please stay with me.. please.." Alex says softly, still trying to get her to wake as he calls emergency services. Amelia stays unconscious as Alex applies more pressure to her wrists, realizing just how much blood is on the floor. He feels the tears fall down his cheeks.
"Please Amelia.. please don't leave us.. please.. don't leave Jake.. or Addie.. or me.. please baby.." Alex says, his voice cracking as he continues applying pressure and trying to wake her. "I love you so much baby.. please.. if not for me, then for Jake. Please just give me the slightest movement. Please don't leave.."
The paramedics arrive, load her onto the stretcher and load her into the back of the ambulance. Alex follows them in his truck, letting Amelia's parents know what's going on.
Alex's eyes shoot open and he tightens his grip on Amelia as he looks at her and lets out a sigh of relief. Amelia kisses his chest softly, trying to hide the tears in her eyes. Alex kisses the top of her head, releasing his grip slightly.
"I'm so sorry for last night.." Amelia whispers, wiping her eyes discreetly.
"No, do not apologize baby. You had a very rough day and didn't know what else to do. I can't be mad at you for that. I love you, so much, and you know that I'm always here for you no matter what." Alex says softly, moving her hair away from her face, and kisses her forehead. Amelia smiles weakly, kissing his chest softly again.
"I still shouldn't have done it.. I just.. I got super overwhelmed with everything that happened at the trial and I just.. I don't know.. I just felt vulnerable and I.. I wanted to be alone and I'm sorry for just leaving you at the courthouse.. I just wanted to be left alone for a few minutes and I came home and I found the blade and I just.." Amelia whispers, sitting up and wrapping the blanket around her.
Alex sits up with her, pulling her into his lap, taking her legs and wrapping them around him. He brushes her hair from her face, kissing her nose. Amelia smiles weakly, wrapping her arms around her neck and bites her lip softly.
"It's okay baby. I promise you, it's okay." Alex says quietly, kissing her lips softly. Amelia kisses back softly then pulls back, resting her forehead against his.
