Chapter 20

(POV NINA)
"I won't do anything I swear," Ethan said. I just stared at him as he walked up to me. "Just relax okay." He added and sighed. "What do you want? Just humiliate me already and get it over with." I said with a shaky voice and rolled my eyes. Ethan sighed once again. "No, I just-" he took a breath. "I just wanted to apologize for what I've done to you in the past." Ethan said. Wait what. Ethan is about to apologize to me? "I'm sorry. I'm truly sorry. You're actually a really cool, nice and pretty girl. I'm sorry I treated you like that. I was just so caught up in my own other personality. I have two sides you know. I noticed how much Grayson actually cares about you and I should respect that. He's my brother and I love him the most so I should be happy for both him and you. I will help him to keep you save because I know you're one of their targets and you're the last person to deserve this. You've done only good for my brother and I really appreciate you for that. So whenever you need anything, just don't be scared to talk to me. You can always come to me to let out your emotions or just whenever you want." Ethan said while he had his hand on my shoulder the whole time. I didn't know what to say at all. I was frozen and speechless. Grayson was looking at us also kind of in a shock of what Ethan just did. "Let's make this clear." Grayson said breaking the silence. He walked up to us. "Nina, you CANNOT leave the house without one of us alright? Me and Ethan should always know where we're headed to. If you're going somewhere with Ethan, i have to know where you're going and the same thing for when you're going with me Ethan has to know." Grayson said in a commanding voice. Ethan started speaking. "Also, none of us leaves the house without a weapon to protect ourselves understood?" I nodded my head softly. "Oh and you also can't stay in the house alone. There's always gotta be someone with you." Grayson said.

"What about my brother? My parents? They're probably really worried right now. They don't know where I am. I haven't been home for almost two days." I said.

"It's better for them to not know anything about this. The police can't be involved or me and Grayson will go to jail if they find out what we do and they certainly will." Ethan answered and crossed his arms. "But they will call the police at some point if they don't know where I am." I said and looked at Grayson then at Ethan waiting for an answer. Ethan sighed. "Call them and say you went on a road trip with that friend of yours for a school project." Ethan said. I furrowed. "What?! That's stupid. They won't believe that!"

"Fucking say that or i'll-"

"Ethan!" Grayson yelled. "No time for arguments.  Nina, just try it okay. Call them and say what Ethan just said. Please?" I sighed. "Alright, but I don't have my phone. I think Nate took it." I said. Grayson went in his pocket and passed me his phone. I took it and dialed my moms number and pressed call. After a few times she still didn't pick up. "She's not picking u-" I said but got interrupted.

Hello, who's this? It's 4:20 am.

Oh hi mom. I tried to sound like my normal happy self.

Nina! Where were you. I tried to call your phone but it was turned off. Are you okay?

Yea mom I'm okay. I laughed to make it sound I was actually okay. I just wanted to tell you that I went to Vegas with Ally for a school project. I'm sorry for not letting you know earlier.

You went to Vegas?? Why didn't you tell me you had to go to Vegas?

I'm sorry mom. I was just stressing out a lot because it was so last minute. Me and Ally had to plan everything out I really just forgot to tell you.

Sounds strange Nina. I hope you're not lying to me. Does wren know?

No he doesn't. But tell him I went to Vegas before he gets too worried.

Alright Nina. Be safe. When will you be back?

Uhh I don't know. It depends on when the project is finished. But mom I really gotta go. This phone is about to die.

Okay okay. Bye honey. Call me soon.

I will mom. Bye.

I immediately hung up. "See. Told you it would work." Ethan said. I rolled my eyes. "Can I go to bed now. I'm tired." I said. "No! We're not done yet. There's more rules to this. You want to survive right? Now listen. Do you know how to use a gun?" Grayson asked me. I furrowed. "No I don't. What the fuck." I sighed and walked up to the couch and let myself fall. Not a second later they both jumped on the couch right next to me so I was basically sandwiched between two big muscular guys. Grayson took his gun and handed it to me so I pointed it at the tv in front of us.. "Nina, be careful. Don't pull the trigger." Ethan said. "I'm not stupid." I answered harshly. "Well.."

"Shut the fuck up Ethan before I shoot you in your face."

"Guys! Nina, literally no time for joking." Grayson said.

"I wasn't joking." I answered. "Oh my god. Stop. Nina I'm trying to help you here. You're not really cooperating." Grayson said while getting annoyed. I sighed. "Okay hold it like this." Grayson said after a while and held the gun in the correct way. He then gave it to me and I held it like he did. "Good, now if you want to load the gun. Hold the gun in your dominant hand like this." He helped me hold the gun properly. "Now the gun is not loaded yet because I'm gonna show you how to do so. Alright so here you have the magazine with all the bullets. Hold that in your free hand and push it into the mag well (magazine well)." I did exactly what Grayson told me to do. "Good, now the gun is still not loaded yet. What you want to do now is push this thing down with your dominant thumb." I pushed down the little slide lock. The slide on the top of the gun slid forward. "Yes. That's good. Now the gun is loaded and it's ready to use. Isn't that hard right?" Grayson asked. "No. Not at all." I said and inspected the gun. "Yea but don't hold it like that right now." Ethan quickly said and took the gun from me carefully. "Don't leave your finger on the trigger if you're not willing to shoot anything right now." He then added. "I'm willing to shoot you." He rolled his eyes and he unloaded the gun and placed it on the table. "Do you think you're ready for the next few days?" Grayson asked and placed his hand on my thigh. "Uh. Yea I guess. Thank you both for doing this for me." I said and looked at both of them. "No it's okay. It's the least we could do." Grayson said. "Thanks," I smiled. "Can I go to bed now I'm still really tired." I asked softly laughing. "Yea of course. Don't you want to eat first? I prepared food for you." Grayson said. "No im sorry. I don't feel that hungry anymore." I said and looked at him. "No it's fine. I totally understand. You can sleep in my bed I'll sleep here on the couch."

"NO! I mean.. I want you to sleep with me. I don't want to sleep alone tonight." I said. "Ew. Alright goodnight guys." Ethan said and went up to his room and closed his door. Grayson chuckled. "Alright i can sleep with you. Let's go. It's almost 5 am I still want to have enough sleep." He said and we both stood up. I felt his hand on my lower back as he lead me to his room. I lay down on the bed under the covers. I watched Grayson take off his shirt revealing his tan muscular upper body. He came to lay down next to me on his side facing me. I did the same thing. Suddenly all my emotions came up and I felt tears burning in my eyes. "Hey hey don't cry." Grayson said and put his hand on my cheek wiping away my tears. "Everything will be okay. Trust me. Come here." He said and pulled me against his body. "G-Grayson. I'm s-scared." I stuttered while crying. "Sshhh. I understand. I really do. But Nina, I already told you. I'm gonna keep you save. We're gonna keep you save. There's nothing that could happen to you as long as we're with you alright?" I nodded and hugged him back. I felt his hand running up and down my back which made me feel relaxed. My sobs slowly faded away and I felt myself dozing off. The last thing I felt was his lips against my forehead kissing it. Right then I fell into a deep sleep.
