Chapter 9

(Pov Nina)
"Why won't you tell me?" I asked Grayson. "Because it's none of your business!" He yelled at me. I furrowed my brows. "Well this is not gonna work if you keep secrets from me. Sorry. Bye Grayson." I said and got in my house. I heard him yelling my name but I closed the door and leaned against it and closed my eyes. I hid my face in my hands. "Nina? What happened?" I heard. I opened my eyes and saw my brother. I didn't say anything and hugged him. He wrapped his arms around me. "Ssshh. Tell me what happened. Come on." He said and brought me to the living room. We sat on the couch. "I don't know what to do Wren. I thought me and Grayson were perfectly fine together but he keeps this secret about him and his brother that they have to do this thing but he won't tell me what it is. I just can't be in a relationship when he keeps secrets from me. It doesn't feel right." I said. "No and it isn't right. What did you say to him?"

"I said me and him can't be together if he keeps secrets."

"What did he say?"

"I don't know. He wanted to say something but I closed the door."

"I think it's better if you go talk to him. Maybe he wants to tell you what's going on. I know you really like him. Every time I mention his name your smile turns so big it doesn't even fit on your face." I laughed. "Okay yes. I will. Thanks Wren." I gave him another hug and went upstairs. I heard something outside and I looked out of my window. I saw Grayson sitting on my doorstep playing with a small branch. He looked upset. What was he still doing there? I went downstairs to the hallway and opened the door. He quickly turned around and when he saw me he stood up. "Grayson we need to talk." I said and we both sat down. "I don't know if you wanna be in a relationship with me or not but we can't be if you keep hiding things. I need you to understand that." I said and looked at him. "I do understand. I really do but trust me on this. I can't tell you what I do." He said. "Grayson, what can be so bad?" He bit his lip and stood quite for a couple seconds. "I sell stuff." He said and looked down. "I understand if you don't want to be with me." He added. I laughed. "I already expected you to do those things and I still chose to go on a date with you. Of course it's bad and all but I don't think it can be that bad. As long as my parents and brother don't find out. I kinda like bad guys." He looked at me and smiled really big. "Are you sure?" He asked and I nodded. I gave him a hug and he pressed his lips against mine. Let's hope no one will find out about this. "Do you still have to go?" I asked. "Shit. Yes I forgot. Uhm.. I'll see you later alright? Bye." He ran up to his car and got in. He waved and drove away. I laughed. This is not just a risk I'm taking. It's a pretty dangerous one.

I got back in my house and walked up to Wren. "We're good." He looked at me like he didn't understand what I was talking about. "Me and Grayson." I said laughing. "Oohh! I told you it'll be okay. You two are good together. As long as he makes you happy I'm happy too." I smiled. "Thanks Wren. You're the best." He smirked. "I know." I rolled my eyes. "Please Wren, don't tell mom and dad I went to the bar because they grounded me. I wasn't supposed to go out." I begged. "I got you sis but you have to do something for me too. Next Saturday me and some friends are going to this club that's 21+ and I told mom I was gonna sleep at my friends house and his mom thinks he sleeps at our house. If mom asks, I'm at my friends house just hanging out okay?"

"But you're 19."

"I know. That's why I don't want you to tell mom or dad. My friend knows someone who makes fake IDs that look legit."

"Who's your friend?"

"Dylan."

"Alright, I'll do it BUT promise me you won't do anything stupid. Don't drink too much."

"Says my sister who's 16 and got drunk and had sex." He said and I laughed. "Just promise me!"

"Okay okay I promise." He said laughing and walked towards the door. "I'm going out by the way. I'll be back in a couple hours." He added. "Okay, bye." He left the house and I went to the living room I remembered Alex. I gave him a call.

Alex: hey. He didn't sound happy.

Nina: hey Alex. I'm so sorry about what happened today.

Alex: no it's fine. You just should've told me you had a boyfriend.

Nina: I'm sorry. I just wasn't sure if me and him were like.. officially dating.

Alex: well, are you?

Nina: yeah... but we can be friends though so can you hang out right now? I heard him laugh.

Alex: yes, I'm on my way.

Nina: cool. See ya.

I hung up and did something till Alex came.

I heard the doorbell and I rushed downstairs. I opened the door and saw Alex. He smiled. "Hey." I said and let him in. "Your boyfriend isn't here right? I don't want to end up with a broken nose and a black eye." He laughed. "No he's not here. Do you want something to drink?" I asked. "Yea whatever there is." He said. He looked shy and nervous. I gave him a glass of coke. "Thanks." He said. We went to the living room and sat down. "So let's just get to know each other." I said. He laughed and nodded. "Of course."

"Alright so tell me something about yourself" I said. "I really like singing. I've been doing that for a pretty long time. Uhm I grew up in Arizona but I was born in Utah. I loooove chipotle. I play the guitar, piano, drums, bass and ukulele. My favorite sport is basketball.. that's kinda it I guess." He said and laughed. "So you're real musician." He nodded with a smile.  "Cool. Well I only play the guitar a little bit. I'm not that good but I just like playing it. I love pizza and I like to play soccer. I grew up in New York and I was also born there. That's basically it. I don't really have a special talent." I laughed.

We ended up talking for 2 hours and we had lunch. "I think I have to go. It was fun and I hope we can do this again another time." Alex said and stood up so I did too. "Yes it was and I hope so too. I'll see you later." I said as we walked to the front door. We gave each other a hug and when we pulled back Alex looked in my eyes. He leaned in. I didn't realize what was happening and I jumped back. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mea-." I cut him off. "I think you should go now." I opened the door and he walked outside. "I'm sorry." He said and walked away. I sighed and closed the door.
