"You practically sleep with it, aren't you curious about who it belonged too?" Hermoine asked. It was Sunday and today was the first Hogsmeade trip of the year. We were making our way over to the Three Broomsticks and Harry's book had come up in our conversation. "I didn't say I wasn't curious and I don't sleep with it." Harry repelled. "It's true. I like a nice chat before I go to sleep, but now you do is read that bloody book. It's like being with Hermoine."
I snorted and got an angry look from Hermoine. "Well, I was curious and I went to-" "The library." Harry, Ron, Daniel Samira and I said. "And?" I added. "Nothing. I couldn't find a reference to the Half-Blood Prince." Hermoine said irritated. "That settles it then-" Harry stopped talking when he saw Slughorn up ahead. I looked at Harry and I knew exactly what he was planning.
"Anyone fancying a butterbeer?" I asked. We walked towards the Three Broomsticks and entered. I heard Slughorn talking loudly and I spotted him at the bar. "Over here." Harry said as he walked towards an empty tables with a few glasses on it. Harry ordered Ron to sit in front of him, Hermoine in front of me, me next to Harry and Daniel and Samira on the heads of the table.
As I was pulling out my jacket I noticed a familiar blonde. He stopped and we stared at each ther for a moment, both of us emotionless. I noticed that he had bags under his eyes and that he was skinnier than normal. I was the first to break eye contact. I sighted and shook my head.
"That boy doesn't look after himself."
"Oh bloody hell." Ron muttered. He was looking at Ginny, who sat in the corner with her boyfriend, Dean Thomas. "Slick Git." Ron hissed. "Relax, their only holding hands." Samira whispered. We looked back at the two, but they weren't only holding hands anymore. "And snogging." Daniel snickered while turning back. "I'd like to leave." Ron huffed. "What? You can't be serious." "That happens to be my sister." Ron snapped. "So? What if she looked over here and saw you snogging me? Would you expect her to get up and leave?" Hermoine laughed nervously.
Samira and I shared a look. Someone has a crush. Harry waved and a familiar voice greeted us. "He, my boy." Harry got up and shook his hand, me doing the same. "How wonderful to see you, sir." I said. "And you." He said. "So, what brings you here?" Harry asked. "Oh, the Three Broomsticks and I go way back. Further than I care to admit. I can remember when I was One Broomstick." He laughed and spilled his drink over our table. Yeah, he's definitely drunk.
"Listen, back in the day I used to throw and occasional supper party for a select student or two. Care to join?" He asked Harry and I. "We would be honored, sir." I smiled. "You're welcome too, Granger, Phantom, Ifreann." "We'd be delighted." Hermoine smiled as she downed her butterbeer. "Splendid. Look for my owl. Good to see you, Wallenbee." He said and left us there.
"What are you playing at?" Ron asked us as we sat back down. "Dumbledore's asked us to get to know him." Harry explained. "Get to know him?" Ron repeated. "I don't know." I said, shrugging. "It must be important. If it wasn't, Dumbledore wouldn't ask." Harry added.
We finished our butterbeers and walked back towards Hogwarts. Hermoine and I were fouling around while the others behind us were talking. Hermoine and I slowed our pace and put our arms over the others their shoulders. Hermoine in between Harry and Ron, and me between Daniel and Samira.
Suddenly, someone screamed up ahead. "I warned her not to touch it!" The girl cried. A few feet behind her lay a red bundle, a person supposedly. Next to the person lay a brown package. The body suddenly got dragged from side to side, as if an invisible force was pushing it around. The body flew up and stopped in mid-air. Then I recognized the person, it was Katie Bell! Her eyes and mouth were wide open and a muffled scream came from her mouth.
She fell down and stopped moving. "What's going on?" It was Hagrid who asked. He looked past us and when he saw Katie, his eyes widened. He rushed over to Katie and picked her up. I walked towards to package, but Hagrid stopped me. "Do not touch that, except for the wrappings. Do you understand that?" I nodded and keeled next to the package. It was a necklace. It was made out of silver and the hanger was made out of opal.
I took out my wand and performed the levitation charm, placing it back into the package. I wrapped it up and made sure that it couldn't fall out. We made our way over to the castle and we were called to McGonagalls classroom. I handed her the package and let her inspect it.
"Are you sure Katie didn't have this in her possession when she entered the Three Broomsticks?" She asked Leanne, the girl who was there when it happened. "Like I said, she went to the loo and when she came back she had that package." Leanne explained. "She said it was important to deliver it." She added. "Did she say to who?" "To Professor Dumbledore." She answered. "Thank you Leanne, you may go." She nodded and turned to leave.
"Wait." I said. Everyone's gaze turned to me. "Leanne, did Katie act different, more emotionless or reckless?" I asked. She nodded. "And her eyes. Were they different?" "I thought so, they seemed lighter." She answered. "She was under the Impiriors Curse." I concluded. Leanne looked like she was on the verge of crying. She turned round again and hurried out of the classroom.
"Why is it, when something happens it is always the 6 of you?" McGonagall asked. "Believe me, Professor. I've asked myself that for six years." Ron replied. "OH, Severus." We turned around and Snape stood in the entrance of the classroom.
He came closer and inspected the necklace. He pointed his wand at it and lifted the necklace in the air. "What do you think?" McGonagall asked. "I think Miss Bell is lucky to be alive." Snape answered. "She was cursed, wasn't she? The Laboriosis Curse, wasn't it?" Snape turned to me, his eyes narrowed. "How do you know?" He asked. "I've seen it before. My father also told me about it." I explained.
"It was Malfoy." Harry suddenly said. I looked at him, not believing what I was hearing. I knew Draco, he can be mean, but he would never do something like this. "That is a very serious accusation, Potter." McGonagall said. "Indeed. Your evidence?" Snape asked. "I just know." He answered. "You just know?" Snape repeated. "Once again, your astonish your gifts, Potter. Gifts mere mortals can dream of possessing. How groaned it must be to be one of the Chosen Ones." Snape drawled.
"I suggest you go back to your dormitories, all of you." McGonagall interfered. We nodded, turned around and walked out.
Who would want to curse Dumbledore?
