Draco's Task

We Apparated back into the Astronomy Tower. Harry and I slowly sat Dumbledore down on a small staircase nearby. "Sir, you need to get to the Hospital Wing, to Madam Pomfrey." I breathed. "No, Severus is who I need. Wake him. Tell him what happened." He ordered. I looked at Harry and he understood my massage. He ran over to the staircase, but he stopped when he heard footsteps.

"Hide yourselves below. Don't speak or be seen by anyone without my permission." He ordered. "Whatever happens, it's imperative you stay below." He said. We both hesitated. "Harry, (Y/N), do as I say." I grabbed Harry's arm and dragged him to the level beneath us.

I peeked through the planks and the form of Draco Malfoy appeared. He had his wand pointed at Dumbledore. "Good evening, Draco. What brings you here on this fine Spring evening?" Dumbledore asked him calmly. "Who else was here? I heard you talking." His voice was layered with nervousness. He was scared.

"I often talk aloud to myself. I find it extraordinary useful." He replied. "Have you been whispering to yourself, Draco?" Draco stayed silent. "Draco, you are no assassin." "How do you know what I am? I've done things that would shock you." Draco snapped.

"Like cursing Katie Bell and hoping that in return she would bear a cursed necklace to me? Like replacing a bottle of mead with one laid with poison? Forgive me, Draco. I cannot help feeling these actions are so weak that your heart can't really be in them." Dumbledore said. "He trusts me. I was chosen." Draco pulled up his left sleeve, revealing the Dark Mark.

Harry's head snapped towards me. "You knew, didn't you?" He hissed. "Not the time, Harry." I hissed back. "I shall make it easy for you." Dumbledore took out his wand. Draco waved his wand and Dumbledore's flew out of his hand. The sound of a door opening came from the distance.

"You're not along. There are others. How?" Dumbledore asked. "The Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement. I've been mending it." He explained. "Let me guess. It has a sister.
A twin." "In Borgain and Burks, they form a passage." "Ingenious. Draco, years ago, I knew a boy who made all the wrong choices. Please, let me help you." Dumbledore begged. "I don't want your help! Don't you understand? I have to do this. I have to kill you. Or he's gonna kill the both of us." Draco was on the vague of tears and he was shaking badly.

"The both of us?" Dumbledore questioned. "(Y/N). He is forgiving towards her because it's his only living relative. If I don't do this, then he will kill us both." He heaved his wand above his head, muttered something and a black mist came from the end of his wand. A black snake with green strips circled them.

"(Y/N), after all this time you didn't forget her." Dumbledore stated. "I never will." People ran up the stairs and the silhouette of Bellatrix Lastrange appeared, along Greyback and Dolohov.

"Well, look at what we have here." Bellatrix smirked. "Good evening, Bellatrix. I think introductions are in order, don't you?" Dumbledore asked. "Love to, Albus, but I'm afraid we're all on a bit of a tight schedule." She hissed.

"Do it." She hissed at Draco. "He doesn't have the stomach, just like his father. Let me finish him in my own way." Greyback hissed. "No! The Dark Lord was clear, the boy has to do it." Bellatrix scolded. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to face Snape. I held a finger to his lips.

I turned back to the scene and slipped into Draco's mind. "Draco, do it. It's okay, I forgive you."  "(Y/N), are you here?" "Yes, I'm underneath you. But you need to do this. Or it'll be like you said, he will kill us both."  He looked down, making direct eye contact with me.

"No." Drawled a familiar voice. Snape had stepped into the scene. Harry and I both looked up at Dumbledore. He gave us a short look, saying his last words silently. 'Farewell'

"Severus. Please." Dumbledore's voice was strangely calm. "Avada Kadavera."  The hated words left Snape's mouth and with a swift flick of his wand, a green light came out and hit Dumbledore, causing him to fly backwards and over the edge of the Astronomy Tower.

The Death Eaters stormed out of the Astronomy Tower, only to be followed by me and Harry moments later. The Death Eater went all the way up to Hagrid's. Harry and I arrived moments after the Death Eaters, only to find Hagrid's hut on fire.

"Snape! He trusted you!" Harry yelled at the top of his lungs. Harry shot a spell at him that he easily countered. "Fight back! You coward, fight back!" Harry shouted and for him only to be hit by a spell from Bellatrix. "You are just as bad as everyone says you are, you foul, dirty snake!" I shouted. I could see that my words pained him.

He turned around and wanted to strode off, but Harry stopped him by shouting the curse that caused me a lot of pain a few days ago. "Sectupsempra." He shouted, but Snape countered it, strangely enough. He threw Harry back onto the ground, me forcing me to go down as well.

He strode up to us. "You dare use my own spells against me, Potter?" The both of us looked up at him. "Yes. I'm the Half-Blood Prince." He kicked Harry's wand out of his and turned around. "Snape." He turned around again. "You disgraced me and my mother." I groaned. He turned around a last time and strode off.

I sat up and helped Harry to his feet. We looked back at Hogwarts, the Dark Mark flying above the castle. The both of us limped back to the castle, only to find everyone on the courtyard. We pushed through the crowd and were met with Dumbledore's dead body.

"(Y/N), try your tears. Maybe it can save him." Harry urged. I nodded and sat down by Dumbledore's body, letting the tears escape that had formed in my eyes. They fell onto his forehead, but nothing happened. Nothing. More tears came, but still nothing happened.

"(Y/N), why isn't it working?" Harry asked. He was getting desperate. I slowly turned to look up at him, my eyes giving the answer away. "My magic is to strong for his old and fragile body, he can't be saved." I croaked. Harry fell to his knees next to be and we cried in each others arms.

The crowd behind us slowly raised their wands, a small light at the tip. There was a bright light shining through the clouds and it made the Dark Mark in the sky disappear.

"Do you think he would have done it? Draco?" Hermione asked. We were standing in the Astronomy Tower the next day. "No. He was lowering his wand." I replied. "In the end it was Snape." Harry added. "It always has been Snape." I finished.

I slowly pulled the locket out of my pocket. "It's fake." I said. I handed it to Hermione, who carefully opened it. She took a piece of paper out of it.

"To the Dark Lord. I know I'll be dead long before you read this, but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intended to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal once more.

R.A.B"

Hermione finished reading and looked up to us. "R.A.B?" She questioned. "Don't know. But whoever they are, they have the real Horcrux. It means it was all a waist. All of it." Harry muttered. "(Y/N), did you know? About the whole Draco thing?" Hermione asked. "Yes, I did. But if I told anyone he would be captured and once he would break free, he would be killed." I explained.

"I'm not coming back, Hermione." Harry suddenly spoke. "I've got to finish what Dumbledore started. We've got to finish what Dumbledore started." Harry looked at me. "And I don't know where it will lead us, but we'll let you and Ron know where we are when we can." Harry said.

"I've always admired your courage, guys. But sometimes you can be really thick. You don't think you're going to find all these Horcrux's by yourselves, do you? You need us." There came a long, echoing cry from the distance and Fawkes came flying past.
