Sitting through dinner was like torture for Sam. The alphas had told him to not take another pill when he got back and see if Colby starts to feel the mate bond. Then it's up to Colby not Sam.

Sam knew the alphas were right, Colby was going to be the alpha of their back soon and it was up to him to choose his soulmate or reject Sam and find a fake mate that would still make him strong but not as strong.

And of course Colby started to feel it. His head went hazy and he felt drunk. Someone's sent was hitting him and it was like a drug.

Only Colby didn't know it was the mate bond or that Sam was his mate because he'd sat with the pack thousands of times and nothing had happened before. No one new was here, he would have been told about their arrival so he didn't think it was a person.

He finished dinner as calmly as he could. When everyone else started to leave so did he.

He walked up to his room without anyone sensing anything was wrong but he felt like he'd trip with every step.

He didn't know what was happening but his knees felt weak and there was nothing in his head.

When Colby got to his door he swung it open and fell straight on his face. He groaned out in pain and growled at the door.

"Great now I'm getting angry at inanimate objects. What ever is happening is making me go insane," he grumbled as he got up.

He dropped onto his bed to wait for everything to go back to normal but it had gotten to 1 in the morning and nothing had changed.

In that time he had changed into just sweatpants but he didn't have the energy or time to worry about how he looked.

He quietly opened his door making sure not to wake anyone up.

See he still lived the pack house, same with Sam. Earlier when this pack had just begun, you couldn't live in another house until you had an actual roll in the pack. Even being the son of alpha didn't mean much yet. Now the pack had gotten rid of that rule but Sam and Colby had made a deal when they are younger that they wouldn't move out of the pack house until they were both in charge of the pack. The alpha to be and the beta to be.

Colby walked around almost like he was lost even thought he knew the pack house by heart.

He just followed the smell. It wasn't a bad smell, in fact it was the most amazing thing. It was a strong smell that made him feel so incredibly happy that wasn't normal. He felt like he was on clouds. But those clouds were the smell of pine trees and faint lavender.

When he got to the room of the smell he didn't care who was in there, he needed to know who was the cause of it.

But he froze as his hand touched the handle and he realized where he was. This was Sam's room and he had no idea why Sam would be involved with this, he also had no idea why Sam was still up.

He could see that small amount of light from the crack under the door and could hear Sam's heartbeat and he definitely wasn't asleep. It was beating quicker then it should which worried Colby.

But as Colby opened the door, they stared at each other, and no one said anything, one word popped into their heads which the said at the same time.

"Mate"

Colby's eyes widened and Sam bit his lip. This was it, it was all up to Colby now.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Colby growled, following Sam's every movement.

Sam stopped biting his lip, "s-sorry," he stuttered.

Colby frowned, "you knew didn't you...you knew we were mates..how'd you stop it?" He sat on Sam's bed but Sam was to scared to sit next to him.
