"Fuck." Oliver cursed under their breath, running their fingers through the loose bangs in their hair. They turned to Khione, their eyes alight with an icy fire.
"It didn't work.""I suppose the pirates will have to do. And we always have plan C." The goddess pointed out reassuringly. She sat relaxed on her throne, her chin resting in her hands.
"I forgot Luna had that walkman. I feel stupid." It was such an obvious detail that they couldn't have overlooked. Cue an exaspersted groan.
"Don't, child. You did great." A soft smile tugged at her lips. She enjoyed this one.
"Still. We were so close!" Oliver sighed, burying their face in their hands. Khione stepped over, resting her hand on their shoulder.
"I know. We'll get them, my dear."
The day after the siren incident was awkward and... Eventful. Leo and I woke up to an alarm, one he had apparently set to turn the ship's direction. My eyes snapped open. For a split second, I thought I was late for school. When my eyes adjusted to the place I was in, I realized that no, I was not in my own bed. I turned my head up to look at Leo. His eyes were half shut with exhaustion, his hair a total mess-- more so than usual. He stared down at me with a lazy grin.
"Hey, shortstack." He had his hand buried in my hair. Not that I minded. I was essentially a cat, I loved cuddles and head scritches more than life itself.
"As much as I would love to stay like this, I gotta lead the ship in the right direction."My face turned a shade of red at his words, and I briefly nodded, scrambling out of his lap reluctantly. I stood up, my joints cracking like glowstick from being so still. Leo's did the same, and I heard him mumble something along the lines of "what's crackalackin'? My bones." As he slowly made his way to the wheel. He unwedged the broom he used to keep it still and stayed there. I took that as my time to bounce.
I turned around to head for the door, but it already swing open. I was hit in the face, a pain shooting through me. I could tell by the warm flow of blood, my nose was bleeding. I could also see my glasses were cracked. I glared up at whoever the fuck had the audacity to break my shit when I didn't have insurance. I was met with Will's golden eyes.
"Uh... Guys? We have company." She rubbed her neck, her leg bouncing. She was trying to stay calm, but she was frantic. She glanced between Leo and I, who looked like we just woke up together (we did!) She let a knowing smirk the at her lips, but her satisfied moment of "Aha!" Was short lived when a crash rocked the boat. Leo snapped up, now fully awake. So was I. We all glanced to each other, then Willow.
"....And not the good kind...?" She finished."My ship!!" Leo yelled, cursing his little heart out. He may as well be covering the Chop Chop slide.
"What?!" I turned to Willow. Did she mean-
"My ship! Fuck!"
"Leo shUT UP! Willow, do you mean pirates?"
"What else would I be talking about?!" She gestured outside.
"Okay... Okay. How many are there?" I tried to stay calm, my hands on my temples.
"A small crew's worth... Maybe ten." Will rubbed her neck, grabbing a harpoon off the wall.
"Alright." I crossed my arms, then shook my gloves. Call me Chat Noir because I got my god damn claws out.
Leo turned to look at me, getting the idea about what I was doing. He had this "are you fucking serious?!" Look on his face.
