Willow, Leo and I stood at the base of some old steps. In front of us was a giant castle made entirely of ice, Elsa style, except more evil. The moon was high in the sky, and so far was our only light. Willow spoke up first.
"So this is it, huh?" She watched the building breathlessly. "The endgame, as its called." She added. She kicked a rock in front of her.
"Yea." I mumbled in pure disbelief. Was this it? Was it over soon?
"We don't have time to procrastinate. We need to get this over with." She began to walk up the stairs, beckoning Leo and I to follow. He cleared his throat.
"R-Right, like ripping off a bandaid, except for the world may end if we don't." He shrugged casually. I mean he wasn't wrong. But was now really the best time?
"Actually that's a good way of putting it... Alright. We got this. Woo.." Willow made some very unenthusiastic jazz hands, and continued onwards. We followed up.
"Everybody have weapons? Ambrosia? Nectar?" I asked 1/4 of the way up. I couldnt stop thinking about the dream. I wasn't going to risk it. I heard an "aww!" Behind me.
"You're so protective of us aw!!!" Leo purred, where I simply rolled my eyes. Not now, dude.
"You better be protective of your nerves around me." I hissed. He isn't immune to me just because he kissed me. I'd still fuck his ass up. Just... With more mercy.
Leo held up his hands in defense.
"..... Touche.""Guys! Seriously. We need to do this." Willow had to pull us together. I couldn't help but wonder if we were being insensitive, joking around in a time like this. Or was it natural? That didn't matter.
"right! Right?" Leo coughed and ran ahead.
Onward, ho.It took us around half an hour to get to the top of the stairs. It totally would have taken us around half that time, but we were attacked by ice nymphs every so often. They were easy to defeat, especially with someone like Leo. I wouldn't consider them anything important and moreso a burden we had to face.
Willow turned to us with a determined look in her eyes. She wanted to see her sibling again. I could see her eyes grow glassy with tears, but she swallowed them down. I gave her a sympathetic smile. She nodded at us, then we faced the guards. All it took was two bullets to get them down. She then opened the doors, without any hesitation. We were greeted with an expected sight. Oliver. I hadn't seen them in so long.
They were so.... Pale. And thin, but also... Toned? They wore lipstick, their electric blue hair in a braid, thick and healthy. They had these huge black boots, black trench coat, black everything. And their eyes... It was that faded, dead shade of blue that the dead have. It caused a pang to go through my chest. I remembered how warm and welcoming their caramel brown eyes used to be, especially as a kid. Now they were... Dead, pale and blue. I couldn't imagine how Willow felt.
"Oliver..." She whispered.
"looks like the little birds have followed our trail of bread!" Oliver laughed, turning to us and clapping slowly. How cheesy of him. I felt embarassed.
"uh.... Bread is terrible for birds."
Leo, my guy. I'm so glad you care for the birds, but facing villains is not the right time to point this out."Oliver, listen." Will pleaded. "Please come home..."
"No. Shut up, this is my home." Oliver snapped fairly quickly, glaring daggers into their sister. Their grin soon came back as they glanced up to Khione.
"My dear highness, what are we to do with them?" They asked.
